I am thinking about a trip to China this July or August. Any advice about which trip for a first time visitor and first time Just You traveller?

Hi Dorothy.

I've just logged on and noticed that you've not had a reply. I'm off to China on Wednesday, for the first time and my trip includes the Hong Kong add-on. The itinerary sounds fab and there seems to be loads to see and do. My friend did this trip last November and said that it was brilliant, so I would recommend that. But China does get extremely hot and humid in July/August so that may be something to consider. Hope this helps.

Thanks and I hope you have wonderful trip. I can only get holiday in July and August so may have to bear the heat nad humidity. I am just checking if all the sights will be open as I hav been told that some may be shut in summer in preparation for 2008 Olympics .

I'll look forward to hearing about your trip

Dear DorothyThank you for your message. I’m Cheryl, the new on-line editor of Your Community and I thought you may appreciate a reply to your post. It’s true that ever since it was announced China are to host the Olympics, an extensive renovation programme has been taking place. We’ve successfully taken Just You holidaymakers to these attractions since the renovations started several years ago and our customers have continued to be delighted with their visit. The Tour Managers and local guides that escort Just You holidays are extremely experienced and plan the daily itineraries, taking everything into consideration to ensure you get the most enjoyment possible from every included excursion. I've been fortunate enough to travel to China a couple of years ago and the landmarks and countryside are so breathtaking, and the people so friendly, that whenever you visit this fascinating country, you will have a fantastic time and memories that will last you a lifetime. I hope you enjoy your holiday wherever you decide to travel. All the bestCheryl, your editor

I have booked to go in August. Not the best time for weather as it will be very hot but it is the only time I get holidays. I have been told that Sept is just the end of their summer and October is a good time to go. I am now looking forward to it having finally decided to take the plunge. Thanks to everyone for their advice but any more tips will be gratefully received.

Hi Sarah

I'm also going on the China trip on 8th November, and also from Surrey - near Epsom. It's my first trip on my own, and am really looking forward to it. Still quite a way off, but gives time to save up spending money!!

Hello Barbara

I am also doing the Treasures of Eastern China on 11th September. Bit nervous as I have never travelled on my own before but reading all the messages is quite reassuring. See you at Heathrow in two weeks
