hi as i was very nervous about going on my own the first holiday i went on was to the moselle valley as it was only 5 days and if it didnt work out it was just a short holiday but it was very good. since then i hae been on 5 more holidays with another one booked to mexico in september. about a week before i go i keep thinking why am i doing this! but once i get to the airport and meet the others im ok.all the holidays ive on everyone has got on fine it seems to work because of the mixed ages and the fantastic tour managers my advice would be just go for it wherever you choose you will have a great time i always have.

Hi there.

I am setting off on my first trip with Just You and selected the Prague, Vienna and Budapest tour as that is also for only one week. I posted a note some time back to find out if anyone else was travelling but got no replies at all. I can't really believe I am on my own!!!

Hello Newby

I went on my first Just You holday last year, and also went on the message board, to no avail. Don't worry you won't be on your own, I was not, they were all fine, but rubbish at technology !!!!

Hi

I think we all feel nervous and anxious before taking the plunge! I just booked my first holiday as a single person to Cyprus in July. I'm still anxious and nervous but really excited too! Go on and book something - everyone seems so friendly!

Hi,

I am also new to this, never been on one of these holidays before. Have looked at the website for +/- 2 years now and now think it is time to take the plunge, also my son says he will book something for me if I don't book (do you think he is trying to get rid of me ??!!??). I am going to book something for Xmas so hope it will be fff (friendly, festive, and fun). What appeals to me is that it seems to be genuinely about making friends and going on holiday.

I too have looked at this website for some time browsing through the holidays and just haven't been able to take the step forward to book a singles holiday. I think I could make the move if I knew I would not be alone on the flight (Edinburgh or Glasgow departure). Destination doesn't matter just companionship on the flight would get me over the biggest hurdle.

Hi Shizzy,

I've booked my first JY holiday to Lake Garda in September - it took me a little while to decide to take the plunge, but I'm really glad I did! I was fed up of not getting away on holiday simply because I didn't have anyone to go with. I'm flying from Edinburgh myself and have no idea if anyone else will be on the flight with me, but I know that I will meet up with everyone at the other end.

Anyway, I really hope you decide to book a trip - all the holidays sound fab, and I'm sure you'd have a great time!

Karen

Hi Ingrid. So you are thinking of going away for Xmas. Well I went away for my first Xmas alone with JY 2 years ago to Austria and made friends so 3 of us went to the Dolomites last Xmas. Guess what? We have just booked Festive Germany for this Xmas and will be joined by others I have met through other JY holidays. So far we number 5 and there may be more. You will have all the fff you can handle and I promise you will never regret it. I have done other JY holidays since that 1st Xmas and met some really great people. So go on, take the plunge, you will not regret it. Be happy, Best wishes, Lesley

Hi Lesley,

I am convinced!! You sound so positive about it, it sounds like a very good idea. I know in my head that I will enjoy it, it is just the fear in my ?heart/?emotions that is holding me back (silly really). From all the messages I read everyone sounds really positive and friendly. I was thinking about Prague or Amalfi Coast for Xmas. I have to fly in from Amsterdam so holidays leaving from airports are best for me. I am going to book something in the next few days, really!!!

Enjoy your time in Germany.

Ingrid.

Hi Karen,

Lake Garda seems to be all booked up for Sept. The only availability now from Edinburgh is 13 Oct. Well done to you for taking the plunge, I hope I can do likewise before too long.

Hi Ingrid,

Glad to hear you are really thinking about this Xmas holiday now. Attagirl - go for it! I went to Prague in Summer last year and really liked it but I bet it will be stunning at Xmas. Especially if there is snow. As for the Amalfi Coast, I have not been there - yet -that is another place on my wish list. I will get there eventually. Best of luck - enjoy your Xmas. Be happy. Best wishes,

Lesley

Hi (Lovely)Lesley,

Well I have done it !!!!! have booked an Xmas break in Prague, just a short break to test the waters. I would love to go to Amalfi Coast sometime but thought Prague would have a bit more Xmas spirit.

Now that I have booked it (or at least asked the JY office to book it, on-line would not accept my address), I can’t wait – feeling of excitement and apprehension at the same time.

We may meet up on one of these trips, who knows.

Cheers,

Ingrid.

Hi Ingrid,

I am so glad you decided to book your Xmas break. I just know you will enjoy yourself. I hope this is the start of something big for you. Believe me you will never look back - it is very addictive.

I got back from a trip to Dubrovnik last night and made two more new friends whilst there. Looks like they could be joining me and my other Just You friends for Xmas in Germany. So perhaps it may be you joining us in the future. Enjoy yourself this Xmas and don't forget to let me know how you got on. Be happy. Best wishes.

Lesley.

Hi Lesley,

Dubrovnik....wonderful, I have been trying to persuade a friend of mine to go there for a long time, what I have seen of it on tele looks wonderful. How was it? would you recommend it? I want to go there next summer (or this summer, what is left of it).

I think I know what you mean about addictive, there are so many places I want to see.

Have you been to Australia yet? (one of the places I want to go to maybe next year).

Speak to you again.

Ingrid.

Theres no need to be worried. Ok I think everyone is nervous the first time they go away on their own but once you arrive at your destination all that nervousness melts away. Ive been on two just you tours to italy and im going on another back to italy in october and have just booked my dream holiday to america for next year with just you in may. Its well worth doing, you wont regret it I promise you, best thing I ever did was to go on holiday with just you, all I can say to you is do it!!!!

Hi Ingrid,

I loved Dubrovnik, especially the Old Town. I also visited Mostar in Bosnia and Montenegro - both an experience. My next trip is Madeira in September for my birthday - some of my Just You friends are helping me celebrate!

As to Australia - No but I would love to go to New Zealand. Those wish lists keep growing don't they. My next years long-haul will probably be China but who knows.

Best wishes,

Lesley
