HI

I would like to do the helicopter ride and the sledge too. I have heard the dog pong a bit. Has anyone been on a helicopter before, would I get air sick? have bought travel bands just in case. I am staying the night before at Heathrow is anyone else. If not see you at the airport. Clothers all over the floor, WHAT will I take?

I am considering booking this holiday in October - did you see any polar bears?

Hello Lab, Went to see the Polar Bears this October- fab holiday ! Saw bears 3 times, although those people who went on the helicopter saw some from the air. The Tundra Buggy drivers know roughly where the bears will be so you should see some. The Tundra is a vast area so they dont guarantee a viewing. The November holiday trip was cancelled through lack of numbers so I think October would be your best bet for this year. It snowed every day that we were in Churchill, and it did become quite cold, but this type of weather means that the bears congregate by the shores of Hudson Bay,waiting for the sea to freeze. Book it soon and enjoy the experience. Barbara.

Hello again Lab,

You should get some advice about suitable clothes to take, but if you make sure you have at least a waterproof jacket and trousers, sturdy shoes or boots , thick socks , hat scarf and gloves, and things that you can put on top of each other and peel off later if you get too warm. The buggys that you go in to view the bears have a solid fuel heater in them so it is comfortable inside, but if you go out onto the viewing platform you will need your warm things. Also there is hot soup provided and some super sandwiches for lunch and pastries etc for mid morning and afternoon snacks. There is no need to venture outside as all the windows in the buggy open halfway down so you can rest your camera on the bottom half and take excellent pictures. Just one final thing, the buggys hold 40 people - there were only 22 of us, and we had a buggy all to ourselves so there was plenty of room to move about as they are as wide as about two buses, and they have a toilet in the back so even though the terrain is rough you will have a great time - go for it! Barbara.

Hello I have just reserved a place on the Polar Bear trip on 11 October 2010 and am over the moon. If anyone else has booked this or has been and has any tips can you let me know. The messages on this thread have been really helpful and made up my mind for me :)I am doing the add on to Toronto too.

I have been away 3 times on my own but never with an organised singles trip and am really looking forward to it.

Happy New Year to you all and happy travelling.

Susan
