Hi Val

Thanks for your reply. I am really looking forward to the trip, it was the rail journeys as well that made me go for it. Reading other messages on the board gave me more confidence about doing the trip. I had thought of a mix of layers for clothing, but nothing too heavy. I look forward to meeting you

Hello Sue

Look forward to meeting you too, I chose this holiday because of the train journey I have never done an overnight sleeper train so I am excited about that.I am also hoping to see some lovely scenery along the way and lots of history too

I also will be taking layers mix and match really need to make sure we are comfy getting on and off those trains and carrying our own bags! I think I am going to travel as light as possible so need to think about exactly what to wear.

Good to hear from you

Hi Val, I was thinking just the same today. received travel docs from Just You - dont know if you have yours, but mine is telling me to arrive at the airport after the flight leaves! I thought it would be all euros, but from the travel notes we have 4 different currency's? That has really thrown me. I will have a look at how long we are staying in the places and get currency accordingly? I will have my bank card so not going to take too much. Did notice that the train journeys are first class so we will be comfortable. The holiday has come up on me so quickly, but really looking forward to it, Sue

Hello Sue

I have received my travel information also I will be travelling down on the 9th September and staying over in a hotel near to terminal 5. I did realise we would need different currencies thats why I am not sure how much we will need daily for each place we stay. I think I will definately be travelling as light as I can bear!! I do find this hard to do but I will try really hard because the travel information say's we may need to lift bags into overhead lockers not sure I will be able to do that mind you!!

cant beleive it's so close now looking forward to it

Spk soon

Hi Val, we will be 6 days Poland, then the overnight on train, just 1 day Hungary, 2 days Austria and 2 days Prague so we are going to need a bit of everything. I have a few euros already so will just take them for Austria and get enough for coffee, lunch etc for the other places. I am a bit worried about the case issue, but going for 12 days you need clothes! I am going to check out the weather in these places next week and see how light I can travel. I am getting a taxi to the airport as it is so early! How far do you have to come? 2 weeks and we are on our way! Speak again soon Sue

I will be travelling from the Wirral and will be flying from manchester airport the day before. I agree we must try and travel light it's gonna be hard!!I normally take 5 pairs of shoes!!

I have also had a look at the hotels think they are ok too

Counting down the working days left!! I think the temperature should be reasonable although it may be chilly at night

Happy packing

Hi Val, I looked at the new hotel, does not loook as good as the Tulip, but OK. As long as its clean, has a comfortable bed and bar I am happy! Not sure why the other update did not appear. You have to check the box at the bottom before submitting, perhaps it didn't take? I am worried about the shoes! but I am having a good think, wear a pair and take a pair for all occasions! I have got my currency and am going to take a bit of time to sort it for each destination and a short note of exchange rates etc so I know where I am. Its not long now and I am really looking forward to it, this time next week we will be in Poland. Are you doing the tour to Auschwitz? I am. I feel it a a place you have to visit for the memory of those lost. I am going to do the salt mines as well. A friend at work has been as says it is worth a visit. Best wishes and see you soon Sue

Hello Sue

I think we are thinking along the same lines I have restricted myself to 1 pair of shoes fits all outfits

I will definately be visiting Aushwitz its one of the reasons for booking this trip and is very important to me I hav'nt thought about the salt mines really although I may consider if you have had good reports

I am ready to go now have got everything sorted and look forward to meeting you soon

Take care

Hi girls, I have just seen your messages, I am booked on the trip for October, just wondered how you got on and clothing etc, did you have to get dressed up for the piano concert? Hope you enjoyed the trip I am a little nervous as I havent been on a singles holiday before. Would appreciate any pointers for lugging my case around etc.

Cheers

Hello Minty, i enjoyed the trip very much. It was my first 'singles' holiday and like you was nervous and not sure what to expect. It was a group of 29 on our holiday, varying age groups and good fun. 'Just you' keep you busy with the tours etc, but all very interesting. Our guide was Ric and he was brilliant. He is a New Zealander but has lived in Prague and was very knowledgable about all our destinations. I will not lie, it was tiring with the rail journeys and being kept so busy, but it was very good and very enjoyable. Pack as lightly as you can, we all 'made an effort' for the paiano concert, but it was 'smart', no tiaras! The concert was very good. We also did an evening in Austria, Strauss, booked for us by our guide, that was amazing! I know Val enjoyed it as much as I did. Enjoy your trip and dont be nervous! Good Luck Sue

Been reading the mails from previous travellers on this journey - they've been helpful in giving me some idea of what to expect. Minty, I'm on the October trip too - my first on my own and getting a bit nervous/excited. I can see all the different currencies could be a problem and wonder how much of each to take?

Hi All

I took this trip last year and yes it was very tiring but amazing and well worth the effort. We did dress smartly for the piano concert but other than that it was casual and comfy all the way. Most of us had guaged wearing tops 2/3 times in order to travel light. Although it was summer when I went an umbrella was definately of value as the weather was so changeable. The worst part on our trip was Warsaw rail station - lots of steps and escalators to manouver luggage and yes it was quite difficult at times to get the luggage in the overhead compartment during the trip. Auschwitz and the Salt mines are definately worth doing just make sure your shoes are comfy as there is alot of walking. Enjoy your trip, it was my first one with Just You and it was such good value that next month I'm booked on the Highlights of Thailand Tour - a whole new adventure as I've never been to this part of the world before. Happy travelling 🙂
