Hi im off to Jordan in a couple of weeks. Just looking at pricing.  Although most food and excursions etc are included information I'm checking says that's its an expensive country to visit . Just wondering how much currency to take. Has anyone been recently or going on the 7th?

Hi Julie,

I'm going on the 7th,  and have no clue.

I'm not even sure if people change for dinner.  I have read somewhere when changing currency to ask for small notes.

I have found a web page with the weather forcast. Its showing 21c for Monday and 22c for Tuesday.

Hi there thanks for your reply.

I think it may be a hectic week seems a lot packed in.We might not get chance to change for dinner! Have you been with Just You before? My research suggests there's ATM to get local currency plus the hotels. I'm taking some local cash with me.  I'm struggling to find out about adaptors for charging phones.  There's mixed info out there.  Looking forward to star gazing in Wadi Rumi!!

Hello, both.  I'm going to Jordan on the 14th.  Have applied for a Revolut card which you can pre-load with money for your holiday and use it to withdraw local currency at ATMS. I suspect that we will not need to pay for any meals included but JY does expect the tour manager, drivers and local guides to be tipped.

Re dressing for dinner, I've been on these touring holidays before when it's not been expected that you dress for dinner - unless you'd like a change of clothes, given how hot it will be.

Hi thanks for your reply.  Research suggests there's ATM and hotels will change money.  Its better to use local currency. I will take some with me. I think it will be quite an hectic trip so not sure if we will have time to change for dinner! Have you been with Just You Holidays before?

ps  I think it will be hotter than that!

Julie: I went to Georgia with JY before Covid,  thats a good trip todo.

I'm changing up some currency in my local town. From what I've read it's just a 2 pin adapter thats needed. I got confused for a while reading about voltage changes but got the impression that applied to Americans traveling there. Our voltage is about the same.

I think you could be right about the weather, it's forcasting 26c now.

Rose: Thanks for that, it's been a while since I've done a tour, ( Georgia) and everything learnt has been forgotten.

I was in Jordan earlier this year. It can be a bit pricey, especially in tourist areas like Petra or Wadi Rum. For extras like tips, snacks, or small souvenirs, I'd budget around 20-30 JOD a day. ATMs are pretty common, so you can always withdraw more if needed.
