Hi

I am thinking of booking an early May Croatia holiday but have the following queries which hopefully previous visitors can help with.

Dubrovnik and Dalmation Coast

What was the evening entertainment like in the Croatia Cavtat hotel?

Were there any nearby bars outside of the hotel that people went to in the evening?

Are most of the excursions full day ones or do you have a lot of downtime in hotel?

Makarska Riviera

How long is transfer from airport to first hotel?

What was the evening entertainment like in the 2 hotels?

I note that the Dubrovnik excursion is quite a distance from the hotel. Did you have sufficient time when there?

Anything else to be aware of?

Is there anyone reading this that is booked on either of the early May trips already?

Hi Janet

I did the Dubrovnik and Dalmatian coast tour in May 2018, I don't recall there being any entertainment in the hotel but it may have changed. One of the other ladies and I walked down into Cavtat a few times, there are some bars, restaurants and a few shops there. One evening we ate out there as we found the hotel food became boring after a while and we felt like a change, we had an excellent meal. There is a buggy that will take you down into Cavtat, and bring you back, but we found the walk enjoyable and not far.

We had some nice days out, but the trip to Mostar was a very long day, we spent most of the day travellimg there and back, we seemed to be continually crossing borders - and that was when we were still in to EU! We only managing to have the included lunch and 45 minutes to look round before it was time to return.I  wouldn't do that one again!  On our free day some of us took a boat to Dubrovnik then another to Lovran, a beautiful island that I would strongly recommend visiting. The scenery in this area is stunning and I really enjoyed the trip.

Hope this helps

Happy travels, Rose

Hi Rose

Thanks for providing this info.

I am disappointed to hear there was no entertainment at the Croatia Cavtat. It looks as though there may be a piano bar but think thats probably just background music. Reason for the query was that I tend to be a night owl and having a few drinks in the evening while socialising is a big part of my holiday. Previous experience has tended to be that people stay up longer if there is entertainment of some sort (although I do realise it's not always  to everyone's taste and some will disappear early as a result too). It's good to hear that there are some bars and restaurants within walking distance as having a choice is welcome.

Mostar is no longer on the itinerary so sounds like Just You listened to the feedback provided about the trip.  All excursions do look good which is why I am so torn about which trip to take. I definitely like the thought of being able to spend additional time in Dubrovnik and appreciate the heads up about Lovran too which I will also now take into account.

I really need to make a decision before I no longer have the choice available!

Thanks again.  Enjoy your future holidays.

Hi Janet,

I did the Markarska Riviera trip a few years ago and really enjoyed it.

The transfer from the airport to the first hotel is 2 hours.

The first hotel didn't have any evening entertainment.  It did have lots of comfy seating in the large lobby where some of the group would sit after the evening meal and chat but that was it.  The second hotel had a band on most nights until about midnight.  This was outside by the pool and again most of the group would gather and sit and have a few drinks and enjoy the music.  With the second hotel being in a resort you also have the option to walk into the resort after your meal and head for one of the bars there which a few of us did one night.

The Dubrovnik excursion is quite a distance from the hotel but definately worth it.  If memory serves me right I think it took us about 3 hours each way, which included a 30 minute stop but it is a lovely scenic drive along the coast.  When we got to Dubrovnik we did the guided walking tour around the old town and then we had a couple of hours to ourselves before we had to head back.  I did the cable car up the mountain then back to the old town where we sat and had a drink and I know some of the others in the group had plenty of time to walk the walls.

Hi Dawn

Thanks very much for providing this information.

I like the idea of this being a 2 hotel holiday and thanks to your advice re entertainment, walkable resort and scenery while travelling this has helped make up my mind that is the right trip for me.

It's good to hear that you also had a reasonable amount of time in Dubrovnik to explore it.

Thanks again

Enjoy your holidays

Janet
