Hi everyone!

We thought we'd do a bit of a throwback today where we invite you to cast your minds back and and tell us....

What is your favourite memory from a Just You trip?

Perhaps it's the people you met or that one particular excursion, or a meal that you had. We'd love to hear your memories!

Thanks,

Vickie

Hi Vickie

There really are too many to mention but a special moment for me was seeing the Chenghis Khan statue in Mongolia .... and then going up it.

Such a shame this trip was pulled - it was magical.

Hi Vickie

That's an easy one - for me it was the 10 precious minutes spent 'panda hugging' at the Chengdu Panda Research Centre on the Inspirational China tour in October 2014 with a delightful 14 month old little lady called Sa. Truly life affirming and a memory that will stay with me for the rest of my days. :D

Bizarrely, my worst moment (or, in this case, place) was on the same tour - it was the pit of Hades that is the squat toilets by the head of the Leshan Giant Buddha. No amount of wet wipes could cleanse that experience.......Ewww :dodgy:

All the best

To many to choose from

Elephants up close and personal on Kenya tour. My favourite wild animal made my heart sing to see them wild.

Standing within the concentration camps on Poland tour. I have a deep interest in the Holocaust I wanted to visit to pay my respects to all those lives lost.

Stunning lakes and scenery on Austrian Lake tour. Breath taking

Ice cream Ice cream Ice cream and of course the scenery and sights on Tuscany tour.

USA - Canada tours many tours for many reasons ...Martin Luther King..Elvis...Grand Ole Opry, 9/11, Empire State, Theatre, Niagra falls

New Zealand being on a boat within Milford Sound ..and seeing The Church of the Good Shepherd ...stunning

I would say on each and every one of the tours I have been on there has been a reason for me to choose it, that reason 9/10 times lives up to my expectation.

I have had NO exceptional meals perhaps due to being a vegetarian.

I have had some cracking good laughs along the way, and I have seen things that have made me shed a tear.

I have met some great people who I count as friends. And some great travelling companions who I have travelled with again...

Some JY TM have been excellent. My best ever was NZ.

Perhaps my favourite memory is bobbing about on a river in Borneo, in a small, patched, fibreglass boat, drinking tea out of china cups!, watching wild Orang Utans, in particular a mother and baby, high up in the forest canopy. Or...................

Waking up to see polar bear footprints in the snow outside the window in Churchill.

Swimming in the Blue Lagoon Iceland on New Years Day in the Snow.

One lady mentioned in passing that she had forgotten her adapter. -  the pile of adapters on the dinner table that evening had to be seen to be believed.

The rope bridge in Canada

The swimming in Furnas natural pool in the Azores.

Rapallo Christmas Market etc.

Lovely, lovely friendships.  Loads of fun and laughter.  Togetherness.

Could go on and on

We had just sat down for our first evening meal at The Mara Simba Lodge in the Masai Mara when we suddenly heard the faint stomping of feet, growing louder and louder, quite scary accompanied by chanting. Then we saw  them. A small group of Masai warriors, in single file, wearing their traditional checkered clothing, carrying their sticks entering the restaurant, stomping to the front. Once at the front the warriors entertained us with their fantastic jump dancing, the height they jumped had to be seen to be believed and all synchronized! Not to be out done one of the chef's, a Masai himself, wearing his chef's whites and hat joined them.

The wonderful memories of that evening are as vivid now as they were back in 2007 when I did this trip, one of my first JY holidays.

So many memories, where to start!

Beautiful sunset in Kruger; close encounter with elephants in Knysna and cheetahs in Zambia; 30 minute Microlight flight in Zambia; dinner on Livingstone Express in Zambia; Stay on a houseboat in Kerala; going up Pacaya Volcano on a mule in Guatemala or was it Belize? - can't remember!; wild orangutans and pygmy elephants in Borneo; waking up to a room full of flying ants/moths in a lodge in Borneo; losing my footing and going flying at Pachira lodge in Costa Rica whilst trying to take a photo of a Mexican porcupine up a tree; zip wire in Costa Rica; seeing a pride of lions in Masai Mara (my dream come true); very early morning Balloon flight in Masai Mara and the amazing views from it; climbing Sydney Harbour Bridge; cuddling a Koala in Kuranda and first one to spot a wild koala whilst returning from Barossa Valley in Adelaide - too many beautiful memories to recall.

Regards

Coming out of the Siq and there was the Treasury, my first camel ride, Petra.

Aida being sung at the Arena in Verona.

First Gondola ride with coffee and cake in St Mark's Square, Venice

Cathedral in Volterra- magnificent painting

Singapore- Marina Bay Hotel, Gardens on the Bay

New Zealand- Hobbiton, flight around Mount Cook and 3 glaciers landing at Lake Tekapo with a visit to Church of the Good Shepherd. Plain window at the Altar with a view over the Mountain range- spectacular. Milford Sound- penguins, Dolphins and seals.

Memphis and New Orleans for the music

For sadness, then it has to be Christchurch and the original picture of their Cathedral next to the ruins since the big earthquake in 2011. My daughter was there in 2005 and has some beautiful pictures of it.

For the thrill- The Tilt at the Hancock Tower, Chicago and the 2.66 earthquake that I felt in Wellington.

Hi all. I think I'm going to have to go with the moment I stepped onto the Great Wall in China. The sense of history benath my feet truly moved me. Definitely an experience that I will not forget.  🙂

Two most memorable from the many JY holidays I have been on: New Year in Iceland with fireworks going off at midnight as far as the eye could see. We all agreed best display ever.

Second, memorable for being the most emotional during my very recent Japan holiday. I must admit to being rather unsympathetic prior to visiting Hiroshima but the film of the effect of the bomb on young children had me in tears.
