As you know, our product managers often turn to the Just You community for your valued thoughts on where we should create tours for… Now it’s the turn of our eCommerce team to ask (very kindly) for your feedback.

We are currently reviewing the Just You website and would very much appreciate it, if you would share with us the things you like about the website, the things you don’t like about the website, what you would change or what you would like to see. We can then use your feedback and suggestions to help shape the future website. Not sure where to start with your critique, how about the following….

- Are there enough tours on the homepage?

- Does the homepage have too much information, or not enough information?

- Would you like to see more or less news and features?

- Should there be more or less images used?

- Can you easily find what you are looking for when you start from the homepage?

We can’t promise that we’ll incorporate every suggestion. However, at the minute, all comments and opinions will be considered.

Feel free to post your comments on this thread, or email me directly at jmorton@justyou.co.uk.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Julia,

I remember when i first started using the forum there was a section for posting photos, perhaps it would be a good idea to have that option again.

Its not a problem for me because i save photos on Flickr and often post a link, however lots of JY travellers don't and I'm sure they would like the opportunity to post their better pics for others to see.

Would help promote JY holidays.

Afternoon!

I like the website and would change very little but i did have a teeny weeny idea, just a thought....... How about holding a competition each month or every so often, open to members...... Or anyone. And put money off vouchers up for grabs or some sort of prize like that???

Like i say just a thought

Thanks

Hayley 🙂

Hi Julia

great idea, can't think of too much at the moment but i do notice a lot of people ask who the tour manager is ( why is beyond me who he or she is ) anyway wouldn't it be a good idea to have a thread which states who the tour manager is for each tour as and when he or she is allocated, that sure would excite us as then we know our tour is nearing, i would also like to see any changes to tour itinerarys updated as on my amasing australia tour in November it still states meeting up in the executive lounge at heathrow yet the terminal for us has been changed some time now and there is no executive lounge, just a couple ideas to start with

regards

Dave

Hello, Julia

I think the Tour Manager section of "Just You Community" is a waste of time/very confusing. If people want to know (and I agree with AbbaDave's comment) then they can "Ask the Editor".

When it comes to replying to threads, I find the "Reply" button at the bottom of each person's reply very odd. If I want to comment on something I go straight to the "Quick Reply" box which means that just my reply appears, but if someone uses the "Reply" button the whole of the previous reply appears (plus any other replies which have been copied). It is confusing/irritating/takes up a lot of unnecessary space.

When it comes to the website as a whole, I can't really comment because I prefer to look through the brochure (if and when it arrives) at leisure over a cup of coffee or something stronger rather than concentrating on a computer screen.

No doubt others, including the Posting Freaks, will have their thoughts to add.

Hi Julia, I find the site in the most part, supplying good information and booking is simple, one of the previous posters mention putting photos on the site, and another mentioned a competition for money off vouchers. Maybe you could have a new review site that allowed the photos with a review and twice a year have a forum vote for the top review and top photo.

The main holiday site could do with a improved search function as I find it always gives me a lot of other holidays not refined to my search.

That could be me.

The community site could do with some improvement to, view new posts/ view todays post, this could have view new threads and surely new posts and todays posts are almost one and the same.

I am not sure how JY plan and purchase holidays but could you have a where you would like to go next year forum, and if enough support is shown the following year it is entered as a one off, I might be a bit expecting a lot there but its an idea.

Finally maybe on your advertised part of the site a direct link to recent

reviews to each holiday on the community site this would save searching the community.

Thanks

Jaya

I agree with Ann. I personally do not look at the 'Tour Manager' section of Just You Community. What I would like is for the latest reply to appear at the top of the thread instead the end. It is a bit frustrating to have to scroll right down to see the latest reply!

i find that also it is very confusing reading comments as you tend to read the same one over and over, i would like it like any other message board or do away with that Reply bit in the pink so that all replys just simply follow the last one making them easier to follow

Some forums have 'Reply' and 'Reply with Quote' buttons. I find I hit the reply button here, and end up with the previous post in quotes. Annoying when I'm replying to an earlier query.

But I think you're referring to the Just You site, not the forum, Julia?

I do find the home page confusing. I'm never sure whether to look under 'Holidays' or 'Destinations'. It takes a bit of clicking to find the holiday I want. Could this be made clearer?

Also not sure about the 'featured holidays' when I've finally got to the country I want. I'd rather see all the holidays, so I can find the one I want, or browse through them all if I'm not sure..

I think the amount of information is OK, I can always find out what I need to know.

I agree with the points above about replies, I don't see the need for two ways to list a reply to a thread, why do we need to have an option to "re-post" the rest of the conversation? Confusing!

And please, if / when you make any changes, please don't have any music or people speaking or the like when the home page is open - it would mean that I couldn't access the site when at work!!!

Hi

I would like to see a list at the top of the page just listing the countries on offer and then just click on the country you are interested in without the dates etc at the start as I always look at that first. It would be good also to know when holidays are nearly or are closed in any easy way so that you know to hurry up and book or look elsewhere.

I love the pages though

Hello, I agree with the thoughts on replies. I think that it would be better to just be able to post a reply see it once at the end of the post.

Press "reply to a thread" and the page is so cluttered it is difficult to see where to go next.

Hi Julia. I find the website easy to navigate and can get all the information I need with one exception (and have to refer to the brochure). There is no information about the timings of flights, ie departure or return arrival. For me this can affect the choice of holidays I take, or whether I take them at all. For example, I would like to do your Apulia trip but the return arrival at Gatwick is midnight, which puts this trip in the "too difficult/I can't be bothered with this" box for me - am hoping the timings will improve next year. Before booking anything I would want to know these arrival/departure timings.

With respect to the community, as a lot are interested in demographics of the group they are travelling with eg age range, M/F ratio, how large the group etc is, it possible instead of saying available/4 places left etc to have somewhere showing total number of places, how many filled, age range of those booked so far, M/F/ tour manager name etc. This would answer a lot of questions - I'm sure for each community member who actually asks these questions there are probably a lot more who would like to know.

I Would say regarding flight times these are only correct at time of publication for the brochure and they are printed so far in advance and are subject to change, as mine has just been on the Florida tour.

Also the tour managers name is not set in stone, I was given the name of someone from JY to this question, but when I arrived it was a completely different person. So both these areas are hard to gain correct information.

But I do agree it would be good to have a column somewhere listing how many people travelling, age range and male / female ratio...

Hi I have a few random thoughts on the website - first of all, it is reasonably clear and fairly easy to use. One glitch I find (especially when I use it on my phone) is when doing a search, the box "refine search by keyword etc" sometimes highlights the example given (Grand Canyon), so the search then yields no results as "Grand Canyon" isn't applicable to where the search is of e.g. China or wherever. Hope you understand what I mean!

There are a couple of other glitches - on the destinations map, Cambodia is in the wrong place and Nicaragua is somewhere west of Alaska!! I just noticed on the Uzbekistan departures page there is a "make your own way" option box which can be ticked (it doesn't seem to do anything) - has this option been reintroduced or is it a mistake? The China/Yangtze tour says 16 days, when it is actually 17 days.

Glitches aside, I do think you could give more information regarding optional excursions by way of an extra tab on the individual tour pages and also give more info on the add-ons. I've mentioned this before but you are selling yourselves short by the brief descriptions of the add-ons. I originally didn't book the Zambia (Vic Falls) add-on to South Africa because the very basic description put me off. It was only when someone on the forum said it was amazing and described all the possible excursions that I changed my mind and re-booked. I am so glad I did, it was the best part of an amazing holiday! The add-on descriptions for Cambodia and Yangtze cruise are too brief as well.

I agree with others that a tour info tab could indicate the numbers booked/places remaining and when a tour manager has been appointed. Flight details, even if given as an indication rather than definite info, would also be helpful.

Regarding the forum, I know others have complained regularly at the time it takes for posts to appear and I also wonder if there is a need for regulation. I know it's to provide a safe environment and to avoid spam, but perhaps there could be the facility to report spam or potentially offensive or inappropriate posts. I also think the Tour Managers tab isn't very valuable as so few of the TMs use it and suggest a Newbie section be created/reintroduced to stop the Say Hello forum being clogged up with the very repetitive "I'm new and so nervous" posts. I wish people looking at JY for the first time would take a few minutes to scroll down the Say Hello forum and read the hundreds of other threads expressing the same apprehension they feel - it would save a lot of time, effort and duplication all around!

Hope this helps!

Bob

How about a few days in Amsterdam? I see someone suggested Dubrovnik. I have been there many times and it would be an excellent choice for a long weekend.

I agree with so many of the suggestions here.

The flight details (timings) are SO important when you have to face public transport issues. I recognise though what Cindy is saying. I am having to veto (at the moment) any of the Sunday departures from Gatwick because of the lack of direct National Express buses through to Nottingham on that day, and because East Midlands Trains do engineering works on that day which invariably adds to my journey times to and from the airport. NOT, JY's fault of course! ::(

A Newbie section for introductions would be really useful!

I agree with most of what you say, particularly in relation to the Zambia add on to the South Africa holiday. I did this one last year and only 8 of us did the extension, although many others of the main group said they weren't aware of what it involved and really regretted not booking (although I should say it serves em right for not using the forum :P). One person even booked the extension whilst on the main tour but the cost was pretty steep, and much thanks went to Trish the TM for sorting it all out.

The only point I would question is about the forum moderating. The other company I use for holidays doesn't moderate their forum and this can result in some quite unpleasant comments being made. Although you can complain, I don't think the site is regularly monitored judging by the lack of comments by the staff.

As a result I stopped using the site and am now working towards becoming a freak at some point later on this year. :D

Personally I think the home page has too much copy. Would prefer more interesting photographs of destinations and not the same ones that other sites use.

A quarter of the home page is wasted with a background shot of a beach. Use the whole screen, I'm assuming you design to the smallest screen, and arrange the offers/holidays in a more creative way. Revolving pictures of different scenes would add some more interest. Maybe try different navigation panels. Shake it up with far away ethnic images of their culture with European images. ie: lettering, signs, fabric shots, food etc.

All details of the holidays, travel, hotels are ok on the holiday pages and work well.

It's just the landing page. I don't think it's changed in the 3 years I've been using the site.

Thanks

Churchie
