Hello Jan,

One of the best JY holidays! Whilst Japan is expensive, most meals are included, so not too bad. Hong Kong is cheap, but had the most expensive steak meal ever, about £50, but worth every penny! I recall I took about £500 to Japan and £250 to HK and brought a lot back. Pleny of ATM machines if you buy too many souvenirs.

Enjoy.

Hi

Did you have any problems re going via Hong Kong to Japan as being a busy airport.

No, none at all. Hong Kong is my second or third favourite city.

Hi

Did you do the optional trip to Lantau island ?  Was it a full day and how long did it take to get there.

Hello,

I did this add-on both times I have visited Hong Kong so, yes it is very worthwhile. It is a good full day but I cannot remember how long to get there, but it is not too far.

Highly recommended, so go for it!

You will have a fabulous time on this trip.  I did it last year including the HK add on and the trip to Lantau.

As  DavidG says, it is a full day, but you see so much.

On the day I went we travelled by Coach and boat to the Island. Visited the fishing village and a trip on another small boat. Then to the Buddha and Monastery, followed by lunch. Then a trip by cable car back to HK

In the evening we did a boat tour through the harbour,  then up Victoria Peak for a fantastic view of HK by night. Then finally a stroll through the Temple Street Market.
