Hi all

I'm in the process of checking out south terminal Gatwick hotels for my night before an early start.  Has anyone got any favourites they'd like to share?

Thanks

Hi IamLizC,

If you are not driving then I live on the Isle of Wight so always travel to Gatwick by train. The station is at South Terminal and I have always found the Bloc hotel very good. It is situated within the South Terminal so it is only a short walk from the train to check in. There are eateries within the terminal so everything is on your doorstep.

If being dropped off by car, I use the Premier Inn at North Terminal. Just across the road from the airport entrance with easy access to South terminal via the monorail.

I normally use the Premier Inn at the north terminal. Although it is at the wrong termonal it is very easy ang quick to get the free schutle train to the south terminal.

Hi Liz,

I usually go for the North terminal Premier Inn just 2 mins walk to North terminal or 5 mins on the shuttle

to South terminal, if not the Premier Inn (manor Royal) 20 mins by no100 bus which is where I will be

next Sunday at £40.50 ready for the French and Italian Splendour holiday.

Dave.

Yes Definately Bloc. I've stayed several times, convenient, well sign posted, and 2 minutes from check in.

I have been lucky with car and parking for planes from Gatwick. Next month- just waiting on final flight times- my sister and I are taking the early train from Fareham to get us in time for our flight to Oporto. Have no ideas on hotels as I left at 4 am for the 8am flight to Pisa for Flavours of Tuscany.

Thanks Ian.  Seen Bloc come up on my searches and I like that it is in the actual Terminal. Same as another one I like the look of, The Hilton. As I have to be at check-in around 4.45am!! I like the idea that you only have a few minutes walk to get there. I think it'll be between those two.

I used the Premier Inn a few years ago and thought it was good, as are the ones at LHR.

N and S terminals are very close at Gatwick, as I recall.

Thanks to everyone for your input. It's given me a few more hotels to check out. I like to have options.

Premier Inn is the closest and although you pay extra for breakfast, it is well worth it.

I have stayed at the Premier Inn at North Terminal and it is a very short walk to the South Terminal. I did not use the shuttle as had no idea about it!

If you are interested in a good boutique Art Deco B and B I can highly recommend Springwood Guest House in Horley who are 10 mins drive from terminal and they will also arrange pick ups from airport to their B and B at no extra cost, it’s included in price. Have stayed there many times. Sue

Hi Liz

I don't think anyone has recommended it yet but I nearly always stay at the Hilton attached to the South Terminal (I'm there at least once a month - it's very friendly, comfortable and just a covered walkway from Departures).

People often assume it's going to be pricey but if you join the (free) Hilton membership scheme and book online, it's frequently cheaper than the Premier Inn, the Bloc or even the Hampton in the North Terminal.

All the best

Mandy
