This was my first JY holiday and I have to say I loved it. I was so nervous getting to the airport not knowing a soul but the nerves soon disappeared when I met up with some of my fellow travellers in the Lounge. Everyone was so friendly.
Jet airways were ok - quite basic compared to other airlines I've trolled with but they got us there and back on time.
The hotels we stayed in were fab especially the Crown Plaza in Jaipur. Lovely Chinese restaurant here too!
Bernie, our JY tour manager, and the local guides were outstanding. Most of the trips were very good especially the introduction to India's religions and the walking tour of Jaipur.
I didn't choose the cooking demonstration & dinner at a local home. There were very mixed reactions from those who attended.
The state of the art light show was a complete let down and the restaurant afterwards was dreadful to say the least. Service was appalling. I went back to the hotel with some others as we were not happy at all there.
The farewell dinner was the biggest disappointment of the trip. In the brochure you are told you will experience 'an extravaganza of India's performing arts, culture, heritage and cuisine'. What you actually got was a poor European meal and no entertainment whatsoever. I think the £59 charged for this was unacceptable.
Thus holiday is quite hectic and involves a few long coach journeys. I loved India though and cannot wait to go back.
Would I go with JY again? Yes, but would read reviews about the trips before I booked them.
I made some great friends on this holiday and so glad I took the plunge. So if you're in doubt, don't be. Give it a go.
