On the 5th Jan I applied at the post office for a new passport with check & send,

yesterday the 10th Jan I recieved my brand new shiney passport.

Today 11th Jan my old passport arrived with a note saying my application is

being processed.

That's good to know i must get round to sending mine off ... did you get your photo counter signed or just send it off...I enquired at post office and they said unless the picture has drastically changed just send new pictures off

yes it is a bit Muddely isn't it, you'd think they would send your old passport back with your new one, still at least you have it

My photos were not counter signed, the post office checked that every thing was correct and it was sent by

priority post.

I took my application to the post office  for secure next day delivery, having checked it thoroughly myself.  I was offered a check at little  more  cost than the postage, so I accepted. The coutersignee of  my photograph hadn't  included title so this was rectified at the counter. My new passport was returned by courier within the week, and my old one came back in the regular post  a few days later.  I guess the  precheck speeds up the process  at the passport office.  I would definitely recommend the service.
