Hello Everyone

I hope you are all keeping well.

After the year that we have had, I am thinking ahead to next year.

Has anyone been to Japan during the Autumn months?  When is the best time for Autumn foliage?

I have been doing a little research and Autumn seems to stretch from September to December.

Not sure when would be best.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thank you. 🙂

Hi Hopeful Traveller,

I haven't been to Japan in the Autumn but I have done a few training courses on Japan at work (I'm a travel agent) and I believe the Autumn foilage starts in the very north of the country in September and moves southward.  The best time to see them in places like the Tokyo area or the Kyoto area is from mid-October.

Hope this helps.

Just seen your posting!

I was there during the last two weeks of November 2015. The weather then was very good, dry with sunshine and clear skies - and with clear views of Mount Fuji (even our Japanese tour guide was taking photographs:-). The autumn foliage lived up to my expectations You will enjoy Japan - it's a fascinating country. If you go, let us know afterwards how you got on!

Thank you for taking the time to reply.  What wonderful photos and memories.  It is somewhere that I would very much like to go in the not too distant future once we are all allowed to travel again.  I think Autumn would be a great time to go.  I do enjoy having a holiday later in the year.  Thanks again.
