Cruising the Seine Valley & Paris by EurostarI have just returned from the above five night holiday. This was my second JY holiday.
I meet up with my 15 other traveling companions at St. Pancras station. Our tour guide Jackie quickly had us organized and on our way. In just a few hours we were in Paris aboard the MS Seine Princess which was moored close to the Eiffel Tower.
The ship was lovely and I quickly felt at home. At one end of the ship was the dinning room, open three times a day for our buffet breakfast and three course lunch and dinner. The meals were of very high standard and presented beautifully. I ate far too much!
The bar lounge for complimentary hot and cold drinks was at the other end. We gathered here for pre-dinner drinks and evening entertainment. Free flowing wine and cocktails made for a happy ship! I drank far to much!
The cabins, reception and a small gift shop were in the middle of the ship. The top deck for viewing and sunbathing was the full length of the ship with loungers, chairs and tables. We were lucky with the weather, which although very cold in the mornings was sunny with blue skies by afternoon.
My cabin was a good size with a large window. Soap, shower gel and shampoo were provided.
I had pre-booked the optional excursion package of 6 trips to enjoy as we cruised to Honfleur and back. These excursions were varied, some walking, some coach tours, but I enjoyed them all and loved discovering more of France. There was also the option to visit the D-Day beaches and museum or to stay aboard the ship and relax.
I feel I should add some negative things at this point to give a balanced review. However, I honestly can not think of a thing. Maybe a niggle or two, but I tend to let niggles slide past me when on holiday! As you can probably tell I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was a pleasure to meet Community's RaeW and the others in the group. We quickly gelled and got on well together which massively enhanced the enjoyment of the holiday. Our guide Jackie was wonderful, full of knowledge and with a fun sense of humour. Thank you all for your companionship and thank you JY for organising it!
