I have received by email the final documents for my Cambodia and Laos tour, which are inaccurate on three counts.

1.  Airline details are stating 30kg checked luggage,  ( page 3) flight details show 20kg allowance for flight from Luang Prabang to Hanoi ( page 2).  Community Editor has previously assured me that the allowance for business class is 40 kg.

2.  More seriously, the itinerary does not match the number of nights to be spent in the various hotels, and states that we travel straight from Phomn Penh to Siem Reap without spending time at Kampong Cham as indicated in the hotels details.

3. The transfer from Siem Reap to Luang Prabang is shown on the itinerary for a day before that shown on the flight details.

Definitely not one of JY’s best efforts.

Rather than looking forward to this holiday, I am now wondering if the company has the ability to operate this or any other tour.  I stopped travelling with JY after a problematic tour of Burma.  The decision to come is one I fear I may regret.

The intinary has been clarified. But it’s been changed yet again. Two whole days have been totally removed, necessitating a very long bus ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. The  reason given is loss the fire certificate for the hotel in Champong Cham. Trip advisor shows numerous similar hotels in Campong Cham and the surrounding area.

Instead we spend two extra nights in Siem Reap. My reason for revisiting Cambodia was to see more of rural life. i have already been to Siem Reap. The excursions  offered from Campong Cham promised to do that, and that and would have been a in the journey from Phonm Penh to Siem Reap.

After so many changes, this is certainly not going to be the holiday I booked. I would much prefer not to go, but apparently because the changes amount to less than 50% of the holiday, I can’t have a refund.

To say my concerns have been resolved is somewhat of an exaggeration.

Hi Sarah,

As you say, unfortunately we have had to change this itinerary due to Health and Safety fire issues at the hotel in Kampong Cham. As the welfare of our customers is of the utmost importance to us we were not prepared to continue using the hotel.

So, we have had to alter the itinerary accordingly. As there were no other viable options nearby or in surrounding towns we have made a number of changes, which we hope are positive ones.

The changes affect days 4-10. Accommodation will now be extended 2 nights in Siem Reap to adapt to the new itinerary, 3 nights at the Sunway Phnom Penh, 5 nights at Angkor Paradise and 4 nights at the Parasol.

The itinerary now includes a visit to the Killing Fields, which is a huge part of Cambodian history. The optional Circus Tour and the optional Temple Tour are now included, if you have paid for these you will receive a refund. We are also offering an optional Street Food Tour.

All customers on this tour have been written to, to advise of these changes.

Many thanks,

Vickie

I still haven’t received a letter, although the contents have been sent to me in a email from customer service. I fail to understand why, given that my final documents arrived by email, the letter wasn’t sent in the same way.

Dare I hope that my luggage tags and lounge pass might arrive on time.
