Travelling to Vietnam this Christmas, what kind of clothing should I take. Is it cold, autumnal or spring like?

I did this trip a few years go and it wasn't cold at all. We started off in Hanoi where it was quite warm and as we headed south it got hotter and more humid.

Thanks Jim, so I suppose 'layering' might be best

I did this trip at Christmas 2015 and it was hot all the way through (30 degrees plus each day). No need for any cold weather clothes - just a lightweight waterproof in case it rains as if it rains out there, it properly rains - we're not talking drizzle! We only had one day of rain and we were indoors or on the coach that day so it didn't matter that it was belting down outside.
