Hi Guys,

Could you confirm what hotel you will be using for the pompeii tour for 2016? If you look under the accommodation tab, there isn't anything.

Thanks Monty

Hi Mark,

Can I just confirm that you are talking about the Travelsphere Pompeii, Herculaneum and Sorrento tour for 2016? If this is the case then it's under the accommodation tab and is it Hotel Aequa which we have used for 2015 tours.

I hope this helps.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Hi Monty,

I have just seen Hotel Palma reappear under the accommodations tab. Maybe it was there all along and i was going mad haha!

Also, a further question: have the issues with regards to the food at the hotel been resolved? There have been a few comments recently and i know JY are very good at corresponding with the hotel about these issues.

Thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

I think you may have confused Travelsphere's Pompeii tour name and JY's Pompeii tour name - but don't worry I have the information you need for Just You's Pompeii, Sorrento and the Bay of Naples holiday.

Hotel Palma is indeed the correct hotel, and I am sorry if that was not clear on the website.

In regards to complaints with the hotel, the only complaints that we are aware of was the dry meat and lack of tea bags. It is a small family run hotel that offers typical Neapolitan cuisine – maybe not to everyone's taste. The dry fish was actually part of the traditional cuisine and is meant to be served without a sauce, and this may have been confused with poor quality. And for the tea bags, the tour manager did see the waiter's taking hot water and teabags over to the customers – again, this is more of a British culture, so I would suggest taking your own teabags anywhere you go. I guess one beauty of travelling is discovering new food...

If you do have any wishes in regards to food, the hotel is very cooperative and agrees the menu with the tour manager who is willing to take requests.

I hope this helps.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Monty I am on this on 7 October 2015 and am concerned at the continuing poor reviews of the hotel that have been posted on feefo throughout the 2015 season. Is JY aware of so many adverse comments?

I'm sorry but I totally disagree with the no complaints received about the food. In my own review of this trip taken on 10th of June I made comments about the lack of choice with dinner and the fact that out of 5 nights the same dessert was served 3 times.

I also wrote this on the comment from sent in on my return and I know of at least 2 others that were on my trip that were not happy with the quality, presentation and choice of first course (2), choice of main course (2) or dessert (no choice). I was hoping especially as this was my first time travelling with just you that reviews and complaints were taken seriously and investigated.

This reply now leaves me wondering WHY I even bothered to review my trip and whether to book with just you again.

I was informed by others who had been on other trips with just you before that all comments and complaints are listened to and looked into. Obviously something has gone amiss here. If someone wishes to contact me regarding my comments then my contact details on your system are correct.

The review of this trip is entitled Pompeii Sorrento and the bay of nap less 10 June with the original reviewer of NeilY.

Hope this one gets listened to

Hi,

We can only reiterate that we have had two formal complaints, and when reviewing the customer satisfaction questionnaire’s the food does seem very subjective as the comments vary from poor to excellent. Our Product department were aware of this and have liaised with the hotel as we would not expect to receive such differing scores and reminded them of our expectations.

Please be assured we take all feedback we receive seriously and act on this accordingly. Our CSQ's are extremely important in regards to improvement of our holidays - so the more information you can give us, the better our holidays will become!

Kindest regards,

Monty

Sorry Monty, but if you look at feefo reviews for all dates in 2015, there are consistent complaints about the hotel food. When I booked the agent had assured me that JY had taken steps to improve the food. From later reviews, nothing seems to have changed.

Hi Sarah,

We do take the feefo reviews into consideration (once again, food seems to be the only problem) and as I have previously stated, these comments have been passed on to the hotel in hope they will adapt.

The product manager will be taking further action if the hotel do not comply to ensure you get the best holiday experience with JY.

Please do not be put off by these reviews, I am sure you will have an amazing time!!

Kindest regards,

Monty

Hi

The food was the ONLY problem for me on my trip at least. The staff at the hotel work tirelessly to help you. The hotel is in a great place for getting around and there is a good range of shops, restaurants and cafes that are easily within walking distance. The excursions are excellent and well organised. The rooms are clean with good facilities which is all I look for as I knew that I wouldn't be spending much time there. There is also the terrace on the roof which is great for relaxing on the free afternoons and after dinner drinks. Don't let the food put you off going and seeing these sights!

Thanks for that reassurance Sue. Can you tell me where you ate on the two nights that dinner is not included? I'm quessing it wasn't the hotel.

Hi Sarah

The 2 nights not eating at the hotel the tour manager organised restaurants for us as a group and most of us took that up.

The first was at the Principe which was a very upmarket restaurant and had the price tag to match. Nearly fell off my chair at the service charge they included on the bill. 22.5%. I made sure to finish my wine after seeing that.

The second was a pizzeria evening. Thoroughly enjoyable. Loads of choice and tip what you want. Think we were probably the noisiest group they had had for quite sometime. Pricing was also very reasonable.

I don't know whether you will get the same organisation as I know the tour manager is different to the one we had. But hopefully that information will have been passed to your TM.

For lunches we visited local cafe's for panini or such like. However be aware that on the Sunday you may need to go further afield than just down the road as all the really local cafe's ran out of food!

Don't forget on your way to the ruins at Pompeii you will pass a really nice gelateria. Can't remember the name but it is totally white inside and out and serves gelato, coffee and cakes. The range of gelato is fantastic and well priced.

Enjoy. I most certainly did.

Hi Editor,

Have booked with JY for Pompeii departing 31st August 2016.Have noticed there was some issues with the food at the Hotel Palma in 2015.Do you know if these have been resolved? Have you had any feedback from clients who have been there this year? Also,is it too early to know who the tour manager will be for the 31st August departure? Look forward to any replies on this subject. 🙂

                                             Cheers,

Hi Mike,

Yes there have been some issues with the food at the hotel last year but these have been resolved and customers who travelled this year so far have rated the hotel and the food "good" and sometime even "excellent".

I think you'll have a wonderful time Mike, as soon as I find out who the tour manager will be I will let you know.

Kind regards,

Elisa

I did this tour in October  last year. I did post a review.   JY had obviously  taken on board earlier comments  about the hotel food: when I was there, the food was more than acceptable.  The hotel is family run, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all a very good trip, with a good variety of excursions on offer.
