Looking at the reviews on Feefo a Travelsphere review mentioned that the "Loyalty Bonus" was not applied to their booking as they booked before the new brochure was issued.. My question is why doesn't Just You offer their loyal customers this kind of reward?

It does seem that we are loosing out as we are solo travellers. Are there any plans to introduce a scheme like this? Even the smallest amount would be better than nothing. I wonder if I were to book with Travelsphere as a solo traveller if I would be offered this incentive?

Its an interesting talking point and I wonder what other members of the forum think?

Hi Seasoned Traveller,

At the moment, Just You do not offer any discounts. However, we are looking at setting up a loyalty scheme - so it is on our radar!

Is there anything you would like to see from a Just You loyalty scheme?

Kindest regards,

Monty

What does the Travelsphere Loyalty Scheme consist of Monty? I know that I am coming up to my 8th holiday with JY and there are people out there who have been on a heck of a lot more. It would be nice to have a little incentive but without knowing what the TS one consists of I can't think of anything.

Hi Monty,

You have asked a dangerous question there!! I think a loyalty scheme is an excellent idea. JY used to give out discount vouchers at the end of holidays but these were discontinued a couple of years back. Over the last six years I've been on 12 holidays with JY and TS, with 2 more booked and I reckon I deserve some kind of discount for my continued loyalty! The cost of JY holidays has risen substantially over the last couple of years and given that I live in Ireland, the holidays have become much more expensive still with the fall in the value of the euro. So much so, that I am having to think very carefully if I can continue to book more than one holiday a year with you in the future. So if you want to encourage me, a loyalty bonus or discount scheme for faithful customers would be extremely welcome - especially those who write helpful reviews!!!

Cheers,

Bob

By the way and correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Travelsphere operate a loyalty bonus system anyway? I've never seen one advertised on the website or in the brochure. Did that Feefo reviewer actually mean an early booking discount or other advertised discount, which is a completely different matter? I think it's a pity that TS often have discounts off holidays but JY never do. I am sure your margins are tight, but even a small discount might encourage more bookings!

Best wishes,

Bob

this has been a bone of contention for many a year...I honestly think with the amounts of holidays many of us have taken there should be some sort of incentive, also perhaps for the amount of people we personally recommend. I notice there is free upgrade in late bookings on Euro star, I personally would like some sort of THANKYOU for booking early and for the amount of holidays and recommendations, even the executive lounges have decreased, IE terminal 5 at LHR I think doesn't have one, so drinkie vouchers would be nice

I remember the vouchers that we were given at the end of the holidays. Never did take up the offer at the time as they were only valid for 6 months or even less I think maybe only 1 month. Today though I would definitely use them as £50 is a lot of money.

Forget the loyalty bonus, just get rid of the single supplement, yes I know JY say they don't charge one, but yes it's there in the price.

As single travellers we should really pay less not more, but still many companies including JY hike the price either by an included supplement or by piling it on when you get to book.

I still use JY as I have enjoyed many holidays with the people I have

meet over the years and the guides, and organisation of the trip works well. But recently the increase in prices, and I feel, my own opinion, the standard of the hotels seems to be falling, I'm starting to think I could get two holidays, booked by myself for some of the destinations for the price JY charges for one.

So have a think JY, single people only have one wage coming in, eventually you will price us out of your holidays

Hi Sim1,

I think the difficulty JY face is that they have to strike a deal with each hotel they use - for a group with only single occupancy. Hotels obviously want couples to fill their rooms and they charge more when there is only one person in the room, as they are missing out on income from a second person using the room as well as restaurants, bar etc. So JY obviously have to pay a higher rate for these rooms and this is included in the price. I imagine a lot of hotels would simply not be interested in booking in groups of single travellers as they get enough bookings from couples, so JY would be limited in the hotels they can use in this way. So there is no way that JY could charge less for a single traveller than they would for a person sharing a room! I believe they do their best to keep prices down and if you compare a JY holiday with Travelsphere, where both offer the same holiday, the JY price is usually very similar to the TS price plus single supplement - so I think they are getting us a pretty good deal. I just wish with the strength of sterling they would have the opportunity to drop prices without compromising quality!

Best wishes,

Bob

I am not sure how good a loyalty scheme run by a holiday company would or could be!!

I would prefer to see something like a discount for people who book their holiday early.

I would also welcome occasionally to see some discounted last minute holidays... There are quite a few companies that offer last minute bookings or cheaper holidays if you book at certain times of the year but most are based on two people sharing a room. If JY could do this they would surely corner the market for single travelers! and maybe I would be able to book two hols a year with JY and not just one 🙂

I think the vouchers (£50) to be used within 2 months were great, you only had to book your next holiday within that time limit. In those days I had up to four or five holidays a year but now with the increase in the cost of the holidays I go once or twice a year with just you and find alternative for my other holidays, there are lots of companies now do single holidays but I do prefer just you, so I suppose you get what you pay for!

It would be nice to get discounts for booking early or for being loyal. As mentioned above they used to give out vouchers at the end of a holiday to be used for booking another one, which was good. I did use my one voucher. I have been on 9 Just You holidays with 4 more booked. On the other hand, discount or no discount, I would still prefer to travel with Just You as have not had a bad holiday to date. Having said this, if there was a holiday I really wanted to do and it was offered by other company then I would go with them.

Yes,I agree. I remember getting a voucher many years ago for introducing new members. I have introduced several in the last couple of years so some recognition would be appreciated.

Also, regarding the Eurostar upgrade, it was quite annoying to see this after I had already paid the supplement for the upgrade.

It seems you can't win !

Hi Bob, I agree in some respects, but if you book a hotel room, you pay for the room not how many people are in it, recently I organised a holiday for three friends to New York and Washington, 2 rooms were required, no body asked for an increase for the single occupancy, they are just glad the rooms are being paid for, flights are not more expensive for single travellers than couples, transfers are the same.

Most of the JY holidays include food, only one meal not two for us singletons so really same price per person. Only real loss to hotels maybe is drinks sold. And also with the buying power of JY page and moy, travel sphere and all the other companies in the group I'm sure a deal would be struck. The 4 holidays I've been on with JY, we always end up in the business hotels where nearly all their normal guests are single business people. I think the single supplement was introduced many years ago when the costs of couples to singles did differ, but now it has stayed as a legacy that just penalises us. Moan and groan over.

I can imagine your annoyance about that, when I went on the battlefields tour it was OK in cattle class

Hi Sim1

As I understand it whenever you book a single room you are effectively paying more for the room per person than you would be if two people were sharing a room. I've booked rooms for single occupancy in various countries in Europe and the rate was considerably higher than that for double room occupancy per person. So one way or another a single supplement is being charged! One advantage of travelling with JY is that you get a double/twin room for single occupancy, which are usually huge; whereas (especially in Europe) if you book a room for single occupancy you end up with a tiny box room and a single bed. This happened to me in Italy - not I hasten to add when I was travelling with JY!

Best wishes,

Bob

I agree we should have vouchers at the end of a holiday, you want more travellers well this maybe the way to go, I've been on three holidays with you in 2012, three in 2013, three 2014, and will have done three in 2015, so that 12 I will have done in three years enjoyed everyone of them. Julie L

Hi Monty, both Bosuncat and I have asked is there actually a Travelsphere loyalty bonus (or did that reviewer just mean an advertised discount)? If there is one, how does it work?

Best wishes,

Bob

Hi,

Travelsphere do not currently offer a loyalty scheme but we do advertise our discounts, which may have been something that sparked confusion. As you may already know Travelsphere do have regular offers and discounts, and they do send a nice little 'welcome home' present for individuals returning from their Travelsphere holiday.

A Just You loyalty scheme is something that we have been considering, and we would really like your opinions and ideas on how we can deliver this to you, our loyal customers.

Kindest regards,

Monty

Hi Monty, thanks for the info - it's pretty much as I thought although I've never heard of the "welcome home" present - what does that consist of? I didn't get one when I did a TS holiday in 2012!!

Regarding at JY loyalty scheme, I think perhaps offering a discount if you book more than one holiday in a year would be a good way to go or free connecting flights on long haul holidays or something similar. A big discount when you have booked your 10th, 20th, 25th holiday etc. What do others think? I know it has to be economically viable for JY to do it and you can't offer us all that we would like!

All the best,

Bob
