Please would you clarify how best to deal with currency for Sri Lanka . I don't particularly want to use an ATM in the country becasue of the high charges . Is it best to carry USD ? And if so will there be opportunities to change them ?

And - can you tell me who the tour manager is ?

Thanks

Hi Lynn P,

The local currency is the Sri Lanka Rupee. It’s not possible to buy any Rupees prior to leaving the UK. Rupees can be purchased upon arrival at Colombo Airport or from the currency exchange counters / reception in the hotels throughout the tour as required - please note that it will be easier to exchange money in Colombo but once you start moving through the more rural parts of the country, it may be more difficult. We would recommend travellers take their currency in Sterling or US Dollars cash.

On the 2nd Feb 2015 departure, the Tour Manager provisionally allocated to this tour is Stephen Hodgson.

If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Lynn,

I hope you get Steve as your tour manager - we had him earlier this month in Jordan and he was brilliant! He was very well organised, has a great sense of humour and he went to great lengths to ensure that we got the most out of the holiday.

Hope you have a brilliant time!

Best wishes,

Bob

When I went last year, we all exchanged money just outside the airport, advised by the tour rep. Most of us exchanged sterling. All the main hotels were able to exchange Sterling it was just some of the smaller ones more in the country that weren't, but again the rep advised us on that. I also used my post office credit card to pay for things at the hotels. Hope this helps
