Question for JY Will

Will there be an opportunity to visit the Texas Rangers Museum in Waco, on this trip?

Regards

Dave

Hi Dave,

Rather than go to JY Will - I went direct to the holiday creator of this particular tour and the response was that Waco is a good place for a comfort break when the group are travelling from Fort Worth to Austin. There is an arranged city tour in Austin in the afternoon so there may be time to visit the museum (at travellers own expense) in Waco.

We wouldn't be able to guarantee this visit as issues may arise outside of our control. However, this has been added to the Tour Manager documentation as a suggested stop for this tour.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hiya Dave,

I'm on this trip in April, I too would love to see this museum, but it looks like most people spend 2-3 hours there, so that would be one helluva comfort break!

So realistically I think it will be a no go unfortunately.

I went to Dallas on a training course in 1990, and visited the tourist locations in Dallas and Fort Worth, including the steak house with 50 oz T bone steaks. Unfortunately I was unable to visit the Texas Ranger Museum in Waco due to lack of time, and this is something I have wanted to do, if it were part of the tour, then this holiday would definitely go up my to do list. Please could you give a review of the holiday when you have returned.

My apologies giving two replies to the same item, maybe you could put them together.

After having thought about this, and this is strictly personal, if you could give this as feedback to the tour creator. I would much rather spend the time going around the Texas Rangers Museum (even at my own expense) than on a tour of Austin. In the future this maybe included as part of the tour, dependent upon the feedback of others, in which case this holiday would go up my to do list.

Hi Dave,

Consider it passed on.

The team do listen to customer feedback and suggestions. Some of the tours that are in the brochure were inspired by comments made on this forum and others have been tweaked because of what customers have said to us through the questionnaires, reviews on the community, feefo and letters.

Hi Dave,

Trust you are well.

This is a holiday I'm considering so our paths may cross again.

Remembering back I found myself in San Antonio (great place) a few years ago and remember visiing a place called the Buckhorn Saloon which was close to the river walk.

It is a working Pub but contains two museums one of which is a Texas Ranger Museum so could be worth a visit as the holiday as two nights there.

Have found the website :-

Still working to pay for the holidays, hope you are keeping well and still enjoying all the trips.

Thank you for the info, had not heard of that one but will investigate.

Considering Jordan and maybe Ankor Wat for next year, maybe looking at the states the year after, circumstances permitting.

Julia,

Another question with regards to this holiday.

How much free time is there in Dallas ?

If I did opt for this holday would want to do the 6th floor museum but would also like to visit Laurel Land Cemetary which is in south Dallas to visit the grave of my all time favorite guitarist (bit like Elvis fans visiting his grave in Memphis).

Know I'd be the only one wanting to do this but no problem as there is a service bus runs there from the City centre.

Thanks

Hi Mick,

Laurel Land Cemetery isn't far, so it should be possible for you to make the trip during lunchtime.

Would that guitarist be Stevie Ray Vaughan by any chance?

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks Tim,

You are correct it is SRV, there is also a Statue of him in Austin not far from the bridge where the Bats are.

Hi Mick,

I'm guessing it depends on what time the 6th Floor Musuem tour starts, apparently that takes about 90mins, but maybe longer if you play chicken and trying to get a photo where X marks the spot where JFK was shot!! if it's an early one I guess you'll have a good couple of hours to get to Laurel Land Cemetery and back before the journey to Southfork!! Every time I say that I start humming the theme tune :D

Hi Mark,

Still considering this holiday (among other options) will decide on next year plans after the festive season. Don't mind missing the lunch but reckon will need two hours depending on the bus timetable.

Other option is if the City tour goes nearby i could jump off and catch up with the group later.

Hi mark . I'm going on the Texan trip in April too . Looking forward it . Hope to hear from people going . I've only been to Houston before but not to the space station which I can't wait to do.

Have you got your cowboy hat yet? Haha

Hiya Lotty,

Nice to hear from you. Good to have someone else on here that's going to Texas. :)

Of course I have my Stetson, but time to get an authentic one from Cowboy country

Mark

Ps..Julia, I've sent you a couple of emails regarding airline seat requests but haven't heard back, so I'm unsure if you received them?

Lotty

Lotty,

I doubt we will all connect on here, but be good to get a few more to get to know.

Are you staying over at Heathrow the night before? Be good to have a few of us meet up the night before for a meal, chinwag etc :D

I hope it's not JR doing the tour...as he's dead 😃...but the spirit of him may be felt

Hi mark

Yes I hope more people connect . That would be great . No won't be staying as I'm only an hour away so no point really but might consider it if a lot of us are going to stay (don't want to be left out lol) . Yes I know JR is dead haha I was joking but will definitely imagine him there .
