I see that there is an optional tour to Etna for £79.

Can you tell me more about what that includes? I'm trying to compare other companies' offerings. For example other companies' optional excursions include (at a price) a guided jeep trip.

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave - here are the details of the three-quarter day Mount Etna excursion and what's included:

Don’t miss the opportunity to see at close hand Sicily’s most famous landmark and Europe’s tallest active volcano. Enjoy panoramic views as you journey up Mount Etna, where you’ll be surrounded by a unique lunar landscape. The mountain itself has pockmarked surfaces created by past lava flows and impressive craters. Feeling adventurous? Why not take a journey further up the volcano (at extra cost) for an even more thrilling experience. Please note: Even on a sunny day it can be cold and windy at the summit. You will need to wear shoes with a good grip and a warm jacket, however it is possible to hire these at Etna.

Choice of strenuous walking at the higher level (9000ft a.s.l.) or moderate walking at the coach park level (6000ft a.s.l.)

The excursion is approx. 3 hours;

Cable car is included in the cost;

4 x 4 is not included, this is at additional cost;

45 mins - 1 hour guided walking tour of craters and hot springs;

The guide will take the group to the highest point allowed where you can see the main crater;

Jeep ride to Gondola station for impressive views of Valle del Bove;

Time to stop for refreshments at the panoramic view point;

Cable car back to the coach.

Thanks,

Tim

Thanks Tim,

Perfect answer in good detail.

However, it does illustrate what I've said in other posts, that you have to get a long way into the (online) booking process before you even know what the excursions cost, let alone the detail. The printed brochure is better in that respect.

To answer Marks comment, the £79 does seem to cover a package of 2 trips (Agrigento 1 day; Mount Etna 3/4 day).

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave, we are looking into displaying prices and more details about optional excursions earlier on in the process in the (not too distant) future.

Thanks,

Tim

your right it does like an amazing excursion and one not to be missed so £79 looks like value for money even though there are optionals you can add on to that, enjoy!
