It mentions three types of socket in use in Vietnam so I would take a universal adaptor - that way you will be prepared for anything. Also note that the voltage can vary so you may need a voltage adaptor too.

I got a good universal adaptor from Boots, not let me down yet.

Not yet been to Vietnam though.

Check the label on your charger, both mine and the charger for my laptop state: Input 100-240V - 50/60Hz. i.e. you probably won't need a voltage adapter for your mobile charger. You probably would though for your hair dryer. Voltage adapters are really transformers and are basically coils of laminated steel and copper so are usually fairly heavy. I would check with the hotel web sites to see if they provide hair dryers for customer's use and may save you the bother of taking one with you or buying an adapter.

A lot of modern phones and some cameras can be charged from a usb socket. I take a universal adapter that incorporates a usb socket. I then only need to take a suitable usb lead to charge my phone. I can plug a second charger into the mains outlet of the adapter at the same time.

This is very useful if there is only one plug in the room.
