Hello for the first time. I have spent a lot of time looking at the Community website since deciding to go on a safari early in 2012. No doubt I will have many questions so please bear with me. The only holiday I have done on my own was to Egypt with Saga which went very well but I have hearde some very good reviews about JustYou.

(Im 56 by the way) It seems there will be many hours travel to get to Ashnil Dam - Heathrow to Nairobi/Nairobi to Mombasa/ Mom to Ashnil - some 13/14 hours - is that right? Then little rest to get over the journey before the safari starts. Have you ever arranged for someone to go out the day before to recouperate beforehand!

If I wanted to extend the time at Ashnil Dam so I could see more -before going to Mombasa - is that possible or is there no flexibility?

If not and I took the extended holiday with you, could I arrange another 1 or 2 nights safari to go back to see the elephants at Voi (with you or someone else) and how far in miles/time is it - because I don't know how practical/feasible it would be? Any advice on this would be welcome

I know you dont have to share your room on the second part of the holiday but are the bedrooms in the Mombasa hotel single ones and if so - what do they overlook - is it a different part of the hotel and to the 'normal' rooms for more than one person which often happens when people travel on their own?

You can see I really need a lot of advice so I can get the most of the holiday before I take the plunge. Any reassures you can give will be much appreciated.

Hi Louise

I have some answers for you now. I hope this helps.

- It is a long day travelling out, but one option could be to upgrade to Premier World seats on the plane for a bit of extra comfort.

- Travelling time to the Tsavo East National Park is 100 miles – approximately 2 hrs.

- It would be possible to travel out the day before and stay in Nairobi for the night to refresh - this would cost extra and need to be requested when you book.

- Again, it may be possible to extend in Ashnil Dam, but there would be additional costs in accommodation and transfers etc. From Ashnil to Mombasa takes around 4 -5 hours depending on road conditions and other factors.

- Bedrooms in the Mombasa hotel usually have 2 beds. The hotel is very large and there are quite a few views available. You may be able to request a certain room on arrival.

If you are interested in talking through the options in more detail, the best thing to do is call us on 0844 567 8844. Our holiday advisors will do everything they can to help you.
