Hi Margaret

Not a huge number, but some travellers do appreciate the extra comfort and luxury an upgrade offers. Let me know if you would like any more info about upgrading.

I have been on quite a few Long Haul JY tours and have only known of 1 lady. I did enquire when I was going to Oz and I have enquired about New Zealand, but to be honest it is silly money and I have decided to go with the cheap seats.!!! I just make sure I go online and choose the seat I want this is usually 24-36 hours before departure.

When I did Americas Golden West last year 4 or 5 people did upgrade on the return journey.

My own opinion is it isn't worth it as I find the leg room adequate and I would rather save the money and put towards another holiday. Saying that I'm 5'9" and may think different if I was 6'6".

Thank you Cindy. I have booked The American Golden West on the 3rd

October.

The reason i asked about the upgrade is that I go to the States quite often and my son upgrades me to first class with BA. However, I would like to travel with the group. If they were upgrading it would be a different matter! :)

Hello Margaret.

I have been to usa before many times and I have upgraded on a few of the flights. It all depends on what level of comfort you would like to receive. For a 6 ft man travelling on standard seats it can be difficult. I am 5,6,, tall and only upgraded for the comfort of my husband.

Vee,

Re changing / booking seat on aircraft, this is how it has worked for me in the past and worked well I must say.

When you get your final documents you should then have your E TICKET NUMBER, once you have that you can go on the airlines main web page, re seating as in it might say ...Can I book in online, then follow that link, it usually takes you to a seating plan of the flight and shows you the seat they have choosen for you, if thats fine you can still carry on booking in online, then you only have to go to baggage drop off at the airport as you will of printed out your boarding pass from your home computer. IF you do NOT like the seat they have choosen then it gives you an option to PICK A SEAT!!! so you do that and the proceed with booking in online. This is approx 24-36 hours before you go away.

You normally need your E TICKET NUMBER, and PASSPORT to hand when you are doing this. Once you have followed all the steps then you can print out your boarding pass and then when you get to the airport you just need to go to baggage drop of as you allready have your boarding pass.

I normally just locate the JY rep at the airport and say I have booked in online and they point me in the right direction if your worried..OK all the best.

hi i have just got back from NZ with JY and about 5 of us upgraded. 2 to business class and 3 of us in premier economy. on the return i was particulalry glad that i upgraded as we had 3 x flights over about 36 hours, so i appreviated the extra room, comfy seat and good food!

you need to bear in mind that staying in economy does not mean you will be sat with others on your holiday, those on my trip were dotted about the plane, even more likely if people book their own seat preference.

hope that helps?

Hi all

As Karen says, the group don't always sit together on the flight. We always try to get the group seated together and this is usually what happens, but in some cases it isn't possible.
