Hi Lesley,

There were some changes to the entry requirements for Zambia, which were notified to us (and became effective) on 26 January 2008.

Tourists visiting Zambia as part of tour groups have, until now, been admitted to the country as part of a visa waiver programme, for which there was no charge. This has been scrapped by the Zambian authorities with immediate effect.

With effect from 26 January 2008, visitors to Zambia are required to obtain a visa when they arrive in Zambia at a cost of £75 per person (for British nationals). This sum needs to be paid (in cash) at all points of entry. US dollars are also an acceptable form of payment.

The £75 fee is for a single entry visa. Anyone leaving Zambia and then entering the country again will be charged an additional £75 for doing so. So if, for example, you take an optional excursion to Botswana, you’ll need to obtain another visa for £75.

I’m really sorry that this has happened, but I’m sure that you will understand that this situation is completely beyond our control.

I hope this answers your query but if you have any further questions please get in touch.

Kind regards,

Cheryl, your editor

Hi All. I have now received a letter from Just You explaining this situation, and on showing it to a Travel Agent friend, he informs me that apparently we (the UK) charge the Zambian's £75 to come into the UK and that is part of the reason they are now charging us! Fare enough I guess!
