The currency in Northern Cyprus is the New Turkish Lira (YTL), and each Lira is divisible into 100 Kurus (cents).

Most places and major cities in Northern Cyprus accept hard currency such as the British Pound, American Dollar and the Euro.

However, I would recommend that you take British Pound with you. There are many banks at which you can change your Pound Sterling into Lira and you will also get a much better exchange rate once in the country so you will be able to take your money further.
