Could someone who has already done this holiday please tell me if the boat trip to Magdalena Island   can be omitted from the tour ie does the boat return to where it started from or does it continue after the trip to MI to another port in order to continue the tour? Also how long are you actually on the boat?  I am not a good sailor so would like to know if I can avoid this boat trip if the weather is really bad.

Also for anyone who has done the tour and Easter Island extension in October what the weather was like? Basically should I avoid the October departure and wait until next Spring?  Thanks.

Hi,

I did this fantastic tour last November. The boat trip to Magdalena Island is about 2 hours - we were all told everyone would be sick and we took anti-sea sick pills, and it turned out to be a new boat (catamaran) and we were all alright and felt fine! Despite being from a Naval family, I too am a bad sailor, but had no problems whatsoever. The boat returns to port.

As the tour covers so much of Chile, the weather varied enormously. The Easter Island extension - which I would thoroughly recommend - the weather was great, and we were able to swim in the sea. I don't know what the weather is like in the Spring - perhaps Google the various different months.

Enjoy!

Cheers,

Hils

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply.  I'm glad to hear the trip is now done by catamaran, it's put my mind at rest.  Now I have to decide.

Hi

I did this trip in February of this year.

I get very seasick but got stronger seasickness tablets from my GP rather than the ones sold by a chemist.

I thought Hils may have recommended seabands, but I can't get on with those.

Obviously I went on the trip to Magdalena island with some trepidation, but it was fine. Two people on our tour opted not to go to MI and we picked them up at the hotel we had stayed in the previous night on our return.

The weather in Patagonia was no where near as cold as we expected, but it was still very windy.

Easter Island is definitely the icing on the cake! The whole tour is fantastic, would love to do it all over again.

Kind regards

Di
