Good morning. I am totally new here and only recently discovered JY. I have not taken a holiday alone before and therefore a little apprehensive. My wife passed away in October and I think I would like to get away next year. I would like somewhere warm ideally  with a spa, pool, and beach.

Would really appreciate any ideas from previous travellers. Thank you.

Good afternoon to you.

I have used JY since 2006 and have travelled the world with them, but the tours I pick are full on sight seeing tours.if you have not requested a brochure I suggest you do, then sit and read what’s on offer. I do know there are more relaxing pool type tours, so I wish you well.

Thank you Cindy for your reply. I have requested a brochure so I will peruse that when it arrives. My post was perhaps a little misleading. I really don't want to spend my holiday flat on my back and very happy to do some sight-seeing but I really need the spa/relaxation option too. Best of bith worlds I suppose. Perhaps I have come to the wrong place. But, plenty of time. Thank you again.

Firstly, sincere sympathy and well done for looking ahead.  I have enjoyed many JY holidays and would recommend Mallorca, Catalonia The Azores and Costa del la Luz to you for the kind of options you require.   Remember you don’t have to join in everything and can spend as long as you want on the beach etc.  Just a little tip ....... sometimes there are very few men and if you would find this a problem you can ask for the gender balance figures when you book. Have a great time

Hi Grondemon

Like Cindy I also choose holidays with lots to do, but I know there are plenty of relaxing holidays in the brochure and on the web site.  I have only taken 2 holidays with JY (June and November this year) but I already have 2 booked for next year so that says it all really.  You are bound to be apprehensive, we all are, but my experience has been that there is no need to worry as you will be well looked after.

Happy travels

Rose

Thank you Rose, that's quite reassuring.

Hello Grondemon,

Sorry for your loss. I have just returned from my 11th tour since 2010. This was a full on 20 day, 2 Countries, 9 hotels Breath Taking New Zealand. One of the best holidays that I have done.

I do not like sit down beach resorts, I need on the go trips, JY suits me as I am given what I need for a good price. Peruse the catalogue and enjoy x

Hi

There are two Italian holidays which may be what you are looking for-Cilento Coast and Calabria. Can also recommend the Delux Dubrovnik trip.

Hope this helps

Hi

I would recommend the Sardinia holiday, that I went on last year. It was a good mix of relaxation by the pool or beach, plus a few excursions to the nearby towns, archaeological site and a vineyard with short travel time to get there. There was also a coastal nature park, which you can wander round a few times and explore only 5 minutes away (walking).

Its a good intro to see if the 'Escape' holidays are what you want or you want to do more with a full on tour.

I have done three JY holidays so far - Sardinia, Athens and Corinth Coast and Discover Sicily and would recommend all of them. I like to mix and match tours and relaxation. Two more pre booked for next year - Andalusia in May, and then my first long haul tour in October to China and Hong Kong, both which I am looking forward too.

Hi

Quite a few hotels on long haul tours do have Spa facilities. I try to find time, when I can, to get some treatments whilst on Just You holidays. I enjoyed a'hamman' treatment in Istanbul whilst on Istanbul, Troy and Ephesus holiday and wish had time for more in other hotels used by Just You! Hopefully you will find a holiday you would like to book.

Regards

Jaya

Thank you Chris. The Sardinia holiday sounds about the right mix for me at the moment. I will take a look.

Hello Grondemon,

Welcome! You have had some really useful ideas from the others. My apologies if you have already done this but, if you see a holiday that interests you, have a look at the reviews on this forum. If you use search and put in a place, then under ‘search all open forums’ choose ‘reviews’. I also use other websites to check out reviews of hotels. The Cilento coast hotel has a fabulous spa which is free to use for an hour each day. The river cruises are also good for a mixture of relaxation and sightseeing but not if you want a spa. I’m off to Spain on one in February in the hope that the weather will be warmer than the UK.

I’d just like to add that my first holiday with JustYou was a real boost to my confidence as it was my first holiday without my husband. I enjoyed the whole experience so much that I now go on holiday with JY about twice a year, have made some lovely friends, visited beautiful places, all mixed in with fun and laughter.

Book and enjoy!

Rae
