Hello fellow travellers,

I am also new to JYH and have finally booked my place a few weeks back.  Yes, I am still apprehensive but excited. I’m off to Costa de la Luz 6th September. This is my first trip with a solo group.  So looking forward to meeting up with the other newbie members and a great holiday.

To those already been there can anyone advise of local shops etc or are there shops within the hotel Barcelo Punta?

Many thanks

Joan

Hi Joan, I went on this holiday last Sept too. It is a lovely hotel. There are no shops near by but the town is about a 15-20 min walk, so you can always walk there and get cab back if you find it too far. There is a small shopping centre across from the hotel, just take the walkway, about 10 mins. Enjoy your holiday.

Hi Joan

You have picked a lovely destination for your first Just You holiday. I went on this holiday in May 2012 - my 3rd Just You holiday. The hotel is lovely right by the sea and you have plenty of time to relax. Have a wonderful time.

Kind regards

Jaya

Hi Joan.

This is a nice relaxing holiday you have picked.  There is a small shopping centre just across from the hotel, but I was there right at the end of September 2013, and not much was open.  I believe that there is also a small supermarket and a Chinese store (that reputedly sells everything), just down from the hotel (turn right).  The beauty of the all inclusive is that you don't need to be buying a lot.  There will be a bottle of water in the fridge in your room when you arrive, and water (and of course all drinks), are available all day.  Punta Umbria is about a 15 minute walk away, and there is a trip to Huelva during the week for shopping mainly.  The trip to Tavira is also very useful for shopping.  It was cheaper than Spanish prices as well when I went.  :)

There is a small shop in the hotel.  I think they stock basic stuff, like sun cream etc.

To be honest I just enjoyed the all inclusive experience when I was there (the food was consistently good, best buffet I have had anywhere), but the problem for me was the humidity.  Also, make sure you take loads of mosquito repellent!

Hello Phil thanks very much for your reply -  I'm flying from Liverpool. I have notice there are many different airports this holiday has, so looking forward to meeting you and the other guests. Shocked with the number of replies I have, very grateful for the support. regards Joan

Hello Bosuncat, thank you for your reply.  You have answered most of my questions I wanted to know. Sounds a wonderful place and do like the all inclusive idea, no worries then. Your right been getting all my mosquito stuff ready as they do go for me! Love the idea with the water in the fridge saves me rushing off to get one. Many thanks for your reply. Regards Joan
