Hello

I have recently travelled on my own and have enjoyed it. I have never been on an arranged holiday for a selective group. Would love to here the positive and the negatives to help me make up my mind if it is for me.

Love to here from you.

I am struggling to post a negative...

Positives...

Great tours, safe way to travel, great fun, you see and do so much, go with the flow or if you want have some me time it's up to you, nice people to meet and chat to, new experiences if your brave enough, try and do all you can and see as much as you can...any problems take them to the tour manager.

I have been in 11 tours across the world seen and done so much in this time, been travelling with JY since 2006, great fun and laughs along the way..

Give it a go..

Any other questions just ask

Hi Viva

I have been travelling with JY since 2010. I had done one trip on my own but did not enjoy this experience, particularly eating on my own!!

I agree with what Cindy has said about the positives of travelling with a group especially as the majority of my trips have been long haul and I wouldn't have been confident about travelling alone.

My advice would be to try a short holiday which would give you a flavour of group travel.

All positive from me, too, Viva. I have JY trips numbers 7 and 8 booked for later this year. I have loved all of the ones I have done so far, and am really looking forward to cruising the coastline of Croatia in August and searching for orangutans in Borneo in November.

Hi Viva

Agree with Cindy, great places to visit the tour managers do everything in there power to ensure you have a wonderful experience and best of all you get to travel with some lovely people. You are never alone unless you want to be and believe me you will have so much fun you will be looking at the brochures as soon as you return to decide where to go to next.

Go for it

Hi Viva,

Here's my take on it :)

Positives:

- safe way to travel

- you meet a group of like minded people who you can share the high's and lows of any holiday

- You are never on your own unless you want to be

- You have a Tour Manager on hand who will help with any issues or requests

- You can join all the excursions or drop out of some if you want, depending on the type of holiday you choose

- You'll make friends - sometime for life sometimes just for the holiday

- There is usually someone at the airport to help you check in

- You can read reviews on the forum from people who have first hand experience of a holiday, so often you can decide if it is for you or not before booking.

Negatives:

- There can be some niggles on any holiday depending on your expectations - but usually with the help of your fellow travellers and the TM, it will all be resolved.

- However my biggest problem is that there are too many holidays to choose from and I don't have enough holiday or money to do them all....

The most important thing is to choose the type of holiday you enjoy - JY offers different types of holidays, from escape to explore.

Hello Viva

Positives: There's always someone on hand to share jokes, experiences, dinner.  A good guide will make sure you don't miss the best places to visit.  Sometimes lifelong friendships are made.

Negatives: Whilst most tour managers are good - occasionally there might be one

who doesn't share your views on what makes a good tour (this applies to any tour company).  There needs to be a balance and some give and take - some like to shop, others like to stop for long lunches, others would rather spend as much time as possible seeing the sights.  It takes a good tour manager to keep everyone happy!  That said, most of my experiences have been good.  Some great.  One or two not so good.

It's still my preferred mode of travel although I don't care for very large groups.

I hope this helps!

Hi Viva

I have been on 12 Just You holidays to date with 2 more booked for this year and to be honest I do not have any negatives, but all positives. I have enjoyed each and every experience. All you have to do is sit back, relax and have lots of fun along the way. You meet lots of people from different backgrounds, experiences and ages. There is nothing to lose but lots to gain by going on a Just You holiday.
