Hello,

I am considering booking the Chile/Agentina/Brazil holiday for next year (already!) and there is the option of several extra days in Rio. I am not one for beaches, although I love swimming, is there enough to do to stop me getting bored?

Extra optional self-booked excursions etc would be ideal.

Many thanks.

Hi David

I have not been on this holiday but am sure that Just You will offer optional excursions for the add-on part of the holiday. I too am not one for beaches!

Both times I have stayed on for the add on parts Kenya tour and in New York, we had to sort out any things we needed to do, Kenya I stayed in the sun lounger as wasn't safe to go out and about, JY arranged travel back to airport, New York did lots of things independently I had to get myself back to the airport.

Hi David, I did this tour (with Travelsphere, but it has an identical itinerary) in 2012 and it is fantastic - my second favourite holiday ever! I didn't do the Rio add-on but two of our party did and they had planned to do a few different things both around the city and further afield. In the two days we had in Rio we did the main touristy things, such as visiting the statue of Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf mountain and we had a quick stop off at Ipanema and Copacabana beaches. We had an extra tour of some of the favelas on the last day. So we really only scratched the surface of Rio and I'm sure there is lots more to see. I don't think you'd have a tour manager on the add-on, so you'd have to organize any tours yourself but the local guide we had for our couple of days in Rio was very good and I'm sure the guide you'd have would be able to point you in the right direction if you decide to do the add-on. Hope this helps!

Best wishes,

Bob

Hello David,

I was in Rio back in 2011 for the New Year. There is the usual Sugar Loaf Mountain, Christ the Redeemer- these both take at least half a day each, Copacabana Beach and Ipanema. The Cathedral is weird from the outside, looks like a indoor carpark, worth looking at though inside. Maracana Stadium was shut when we were there as it was being rebuilt for the football World Cup. I am not sure if they do tours which were worth going to before they closed it :(

Loved Rio very much, enjoy

Thanks everyone. Rio add-on is not accompanied by a Tour Manager, so very much on my own! If plenty to do, not a problem, otherwise back home to catch up on laundry.

Hi David

You may not be on your own as I am sure a few of your fellow travellers may also do the add-on. I think if the Tour Manager does not accompany the add-on bit, then there would be a local person to help you with any excursions etc. If not, those who do the add-on can get together and plan an itinerary!
