excitement for holiday growing daily especially as I saw a baby free flying CONDOR at Warwick Castle last week. It is the only free flying condor in England and wow was it massive even though it is only about 12 months old. it is part of the castle's Birds of Prey display but only flies as the last bird in just the afternoon session.

I so hope we do see these birds in Peru. I was almost jumping up and down with excitement--which is very sad at my age, early 60's, and then being told to calm down by my daughter although she was equally impressed!

lovely to hear from you, our trip to Peru is slipping quietly into our path now just around seven weeks, i always say when it gets under six then it'll be on top of us before we know it, oh how fantastic it would be to see a condor on our tour, such a shame it is only me and you who use the forum for this trip i rarely see anything on peru, hope all is well with you and your family, i saw my nurse at the surgery last week and she gave me a Typhoid booster, she also mentioned Polio and yellow fever but i was up to date with those and prescribed me some malaria tablets, they cost an arm and a leg, Morissons were cheapest but you prob won't need anything like that as not doing the amazon, nothing to worry about with altitude and just your normal dihorrea tabs as precaution that you take anywhere i was told

as i mentioned i shall be staying at hotel across road from terminal and at this point am taking it as 3hr check in so plan to toodle across between 2.30 and 3am, nice to offload case and go for a coffee or something and relax before our flight, shall look out for you, i cannot imagine how excited you'll be if we saw the real mcCoy in Peru lol you'll prob see me more excited when i see a monkey ho ho

Nice to hear from you, too! No, as you say there aren't may posts on Peru but I am sure we will soon be chatting to the other solo travellers when we arrive, hopefully we will get on OK with the couples also.

I also saw the travel nurse last week. My injections were already up to date. I don't need malaria tablets, thank goodness. Neither do I need the yellow fever jab, she said. I have bought the Bimuno pastilles that it mentioned in the info.. My cousin went to Peru a couple of years ago and she previously told me how good Bimuno pastilles are. Mind you, she might still not have had tummy problems even if she hadn't taken them!! They are expensive, but I have erred on the sign of caution, knowing what I am like.

When I went to India a couple of years ago, my son saw my open suitcase and asked if I had actually got any clothes in it, because he couldn't see any amongst all my other paraphanalia.

I'll try not to be too over the top if I see the real mcoy in the sky. What about these monkeys, Dave, are they in the jungle. I think you previously mentioned Monkey Island, where's that.

I will aim to get to the airport about 2.45 am and will look out for you.

Shall we meet before we check-in, cos after as you say we can have a coffee and relax.

no worries, you feel free to get excited if we see the condor i'll probably be getting excited with you lol I believe the monkey island is on the amazon tour so not sure if we get to see any on the main tour but you never know, maybe on the ballestas islands or somewhere, hadn't thought of pastilles, can you buy them over the counter?

am staying at the ibis budget across the road little cheapskate that I am lol but that was £29 but barely a few hrs sleep and staying there when we get back too so I plan to do my homework on arrival by timing my walk for the morning, we can meet up before we check in if you like, last time we asked I think we were the only singles from Birmingham or maybe one other and a couple, hopefully the couples are ok too, always nice to get rid of that case and hopefully we won't see it until Lima, mind you that hand luggage can weigh you down too

Am sure the Ibis will be fine, you are only going to be there for a few hours.If I hadn't got to sort mum and aunt out on the 17th I would nip across on the train to have a quick drink with you. I know this is what one does on these hols if one is at the airport the day before!! A few met up the evening before when we went to Slovenia

No, I some how don't think we will see monkeys on the main tour, I think you are correct saying Monkey Island will be in the Amazon.

Bimuno travelaid quote"support your tummy while abroad". You need to take 3 pastilles a day for a week before you travel and continue to do so whilst away. 30 tablets in a packet. £10 a packet, 2 packets needed. Ugh! Bought from a big Boots over counter.

Have never taken these before, have done a few trips where I have had to be very careful and have only been ill once-first trip to Kenya.

So are Bimuno pastilles worth the cost!! I am always extremely careful

with food and hand washing etc. So now I have said that I hope it hasn't put the mockers on this hol

My pal and I are debating Namibia in May-but she would need to book it first and then I know she would still go if I booked it and then subsequently had to cancel

just looked at the Namibia tour looks really good would love to do that though for me next May looks out as a friend has been on about some cruise for his 50th around about that time, it's got in my little way a bit lol hope he doesn't read this ha ha but yes it's def on my wish list

plan to get to hotel at airport around 5 on the 17th its only 2 mins walk across the car park, shall have a couple drinks and a meal shame you couldn't join me as only 10 - 15 mins on the train but naturally your mum and aunt are priority, I don't suppose i'll sleep much with having to be up around 2, my suitcase is red by the way so you should pick me out easily enough, just bought my Malerone today from Morrisons £57.92p gulp! but saved a tenner on boots price, I got a water infection on my last day in Kenya in 2008 which I think I got from brushing my teeth using tap water in the masai mara towards the end of the trip and spent a week in hospital after returning from Sri Lanka the following year, god knows what I got there but they never found out so you can never be over cautious, take some of them miniature hand gels and use it frequently I am told

Yes, I am keeping tabs on May departure for Namibia, realize it is popular. this is another destination I had booked in 2010, with a friend, and then cancelled but this time we cancelled because we didn't trust the Holiday Company. We subsequently booked a short haul with TS and we were totally relaxed. Now I still need to wait for

another JY pal to finally decide and book, have promised I will book whatever she books. She seems to be changing her mind on the destination. Namibia still number 1 with me. Had to let her down twice last year but met her on our first JY in 2005.

Must have been awful ending up in hospital after your Sri Lanka holiday, still it obviously hasn't put you off travelling which is great.
