Hi everyone, I've just joined this community and after reading alot of post travel comments it looks like I have picked a good company to go with. I have travelled solo for the first time this year and went on a Thomson cruise for 1 week at easter. I found it all well organised but not a great deal organised for a solo traveller. Luckily i met up with a lady in the cabin next door and practically spent the whole week together which was good. I wanted to experience travelling with a group further a field and have booked to go on the Americas Golden west holiday in October 2014. Anyone else going? Having already experienced travelling on my own im not as nervous this time as you will always find plenty of people doing the same as you where ever you go. cant wait for this trip and to meet like minded travellers! 😃 I will try to log onto this forum regularly to check whats going on. look forward to chatting some more

Hi Claire, good for you! The Golden West tour was my first long haul holiday back in 2011 and I really enjoyed it - there are lots of fun and interesting places to see on that tour. I really liked San Francisco, Las Vegas and my first trip in a helicopter over the Grand Canyon! I met four lovely ladies on that tour that I am still in contact with today. I hope you have a great time and that this will be the first of many tours with JY.

Best wishes,

Bob

Hello and welcome Claire,

You most certainly have joined the right community here I can assure you. I have not been on the tour you are interested in but I have done many USA tours with JY. So much to see and do, there might be some early starts but that's just so you can get to see so much while you are away, you will find breakfast is included, but lunch and tea will be on the go, people buddy up very quickly and go with the flow with the eating out. Sometimes it's a pub style meal other times more restraunt based. I have been using JY since 2006 and have my 11th tour booked for 2015. A very safe way to travel great countries to visit and nice people to meet along the way, any questions just ask.

Hi Claire and Mick

I've booked on this holiday for 6th October, so I'll look forward to meeting you then, Claire. What part of the country are you from? I'm from Weymouth, Dorset.

I went on my first JY holiday last year to Cambodia and had a brilliant time. Our group of about 20 all got to know each other very quickly, we had an excellent tour guide, and the whole holiday which involved a great deal of travelling was extremely well organised.

Thanks very much Mick for your fantastic, very detailed, blog, I almost feel like I've done the holiday already! I just hope I manage to avoid the Macs.

I've also booked a holiday in September to Turkey with Solos (sorry JY! ), so it will be interesting to see how the two companies compare.

Marion.

Hi Marion F, thanks for your post. I live in Hastings East sussex but I have an aunt who lives in Swanage so spent many summers down that way as a child visiting Corfe Castle, Swanage railway, Christchurch, Poole etc I have lots of fond memories of that area. Will look forward to meeting you on the 6th!
