Just received my new brochure and really tempted by the polar bear holiday - anyone thinking about this one as it was removed from last year's brochure?

I'd love to do it, but the dates are no good for me - I'll just have to leave work!

It sounds a fantastic trip, especially with the Toronto add-on. Very envious of you if you are able to go on it.

Hi that sounds very exciting! I think it's about three years since that was last in the brochure. I'm waiting for my new brochure in great anticipation! Hope you do book it and have a great time!

Cheers,

Bob

I'm definitely going to do this one but haven't decided which date yet. I'm also interested in doing the 'off the beaten track in Africa' trip which Will has hinted at but may have to wait until the next brochure comes out to find out the dates. I'm a bit anxious that the Polar Bear trip may sell out as I've been told there are only ten places on each date so unless I can get any advance notice from JY Will (hint hint!) I may risk losing out. So many lovely trips and so little time.........

Hi Sally,

There are 10 places on the Ultimate Polar Bear Adventure trip, however, there are an additional 7 places on each date for those who want to do the Toronto Add-on. Whilst this means there are extra places, I can confirm that we are already getting bookings for this new tour despite it departing in Oct/Nov.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Thanks for letting me know Julia, I guess I'll have to take the plunge and pick one of the dates.

No worries, but take a bit of time to make sure you pick the right date for you. I'm sure it will be the experience of a lifetime whichever date you choose and after watching the polar bear programme that was on yesterday, I would be very envious of you going.

Kindest regards,

Julia

Hi Sally,

we are still in the reseach stage on the African tour, so not much to report yet.

the Polar Bears trip is selling quite quickly, we do only have 2 dates available and with a small group size so don't leave it too long!

Hi Will,

Just a query regarding the top secret new African tour! I'm hoping it will be either Tanzania/Zanzibar, Namibia or Ethiopia but from what you've hinted at previously, I'm afraid it might be Madagascar! To be honest, this destination doesn't interest me as I gather the infrastructure is terrible there, the climate not that pleasant and lemurs don't excite me much. On top of this, there seems to be quite a bit of political upheaval in the country at the moment. Obviously if you were to go with Madagascar as well as another African destination, I'd be happy but I'm hoping it won't be your sole new tour for that amazing continent! I know I'm just one voice amongst many and perhaps many others might disagree with me, but I just thought I'd throw my thoughts in before 2015 tours are finalised! Apologies if I am putting a spanner in the works!

Cheers,

Bob

Thanks Will - I phoned the office yesterday and found that 3 places had already gone for my preferred date (Nov) so I went ahead and booked it. Now I just have to brave the sales to get some thermals!

Gill, for your info, only one place had gone on the Oct date but as Will said, if you fancy it it's probably better to book soon.

there's nothing top secret Bob, we have only just started looking at what options there are available around Africa. I note your comments. Of course, as is the way of the world, someone else will post up now saying Madagascar is exactly where they are hoping for!

Hello Sally

I was looking at this at the weekend, looks like an amazing trip

Still haven't decided what I'm doing this year, as you say there's just so many places to go I can't decide.

Hi Bren

It does look good doesn't it - and it looks like the Nov date is almost fully booked. There are so many good holidays in the brochure that I'm planning through to 2016!

Let me know when you decide which you're going with!

Hi,

I've just booked for the 10th November as this seems to be the most popular date - there are only a few places left, so if you want to do it - and it will be amazing - you need to book now. I'm doing an extra add-on in Toronto to see family. While the Sales are on, now is the time to buy those down jackets and thermals as it is going to be very, very cold in November!!

Hope to see you there!

Cheers,

Hils

Hi Hils

Lovely to find someone else going on this one. It's such a long way off though - just under 44 weeks according to my Countdown app!

Hi to all those braving the cold!

I have booked for 10 November with Toronto add on. Hoping my room in Toronto will be nicer than the one I had last October - the bed was so narrow I thought I was testing out my coffin! Not to mention being opposite the lift so not exactly peaceful! :s

This will be my third JY holiday, having done New England and Canada in the fall (29 Sept 13) and Christmas in Lake Bled (well not actually in Lake Bled!).

Both the Tour Managers, Susanne (Fall) and Philip (Bled) were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and interested in the tour - it does make a difference - lets hope the same applies to the chosen one for our Polar Bear tour.

I am unreasonably excited already and yesterday bought a book on the Arctic and animals of the tundra. Next stop, as Hils suggested, the sales for warm and weatherproof gear, especially boots as my waterproof boots, bought specially for Bled, were not!

Only winter, spring and summer to go!

Hi,

Great news that you have booked the same date. I'm hoping to have a decent sized bed as I'm staying with my cousins and not in the Toronto hotel! There is a new book coming out in April, that you might be interested in, "Arctic Icons - How the town of Churchill learned to love its polar bears" - you can pre-order it on Amazon. What was the name of the book that you got?

Cheers,

Hils
