Last year i did Costa Brava xmas & new year but this time i've got other stuff arranged at chrimmy but dont fancy been home alone at NY.

Although been abroad with JY quite a few times i've never done a UK break and cant convince myself whether i should do it. Have got two hols booked next year (May & Nov) but think i can stretch the pennies a bit further if i decide to go for it.

Any advice on which NY break would be best is appreciated from those that have been previously.

Do all the men wear black tie for main meal or is it just smart casual ?

Hi Nick sorry to hear your plans have had to change. I did New year at Hinckley two years ago and it was the best NY I have done and the first with just you. Last year I did Cheltenham and it was very poor to say the least, needless to say I will be going back to Hinckley again this year. As far as I know I think this is one of the biggest parties. At NY it is a chance for every one to really dress up including the men. Most had dinner suites with black bow ties, but a few had lounge suits. We had a live band to start then a disco and a piper piped us into a five course Gala dinner. As you can probably see I am really looking forward to it again. Up to earlier this week there was 70 people booked. Hope this has helped and hope to see you there. Happy new year what ever you decide to do. Annabelle

If you don't want to be home alone at New Year, Hinckley sounds as though it should be fun.

Personally, I've never been away for New Year only Christmas so I can't really make any recommendations.

Anyway, if your pennies will stretch go for it and have a fabulous time.

Hi Mick. Julie here I'm going to Hinckley for the new year break, as like you I don't get much holiday at this time as I work at tesco, I went to Cheltenham last year which was a disaster, but! There were a lot of people who have been on this break and said this was the place to go. Hope to see you there. On the clothes front men do dress us

To all who are going to Hinckley for new year, what sort of time are you expecting to arrive?

I'll probably set off late morning and stop on route for a coffee (& cake) so estimate it will be around 2pm.

I'm coming down from just south of York and estimate 2 hours driving time.
