I have not been on this trip but I am going to the Austrian Tyrol on 14 June. As for the best time to go, personally I would choose June or July, when it should not be too wet, and a decent temperature. It can be cool later on, but that is up to you. June especially has all the spring flowers, and according to my Viennese friend is a good time.
There is a recent review of this holiday on the forum, but you have probably already seen it.
