Hi. First major holiday alone, since becoming widowed. Two issues for me are whether I would be the oldest in any group - 67. Also I don't have mobility problems, but neither do I want to climb hills and mountains when being led by a guide round a city. I really want to go back to Italy - a place my husband and I loved. Especially when I saw there was a 2 night stay in Lido di Jesolo, I have a lot of happy memories of that place. My family say go for it mum, what do others think?

Welcome ...you family are so right...GO for it....

You will be safe, have fun, and see great sights...at 67 you will NOT be the oldest by any means you will be fine.

I have been on the Tuscany tour a couple years ago it was very good. I have been lucky enough to have been on 10 JY tours since 2006 and am looking for my 11th so if there is anything I can help you with just ask.

Hello and welcome

I would say go for it. Life is too short. You definitely will not be the oldest in any group. I have been on holiday where the oldest person was in his 80s!

Hello Jayr,

My circumstances and age are much the same as yours. It took me months to pluck up courage to book my first JY holiday but I am so glad I did . I have just returned from Andalucia and had such a super holiday. I revisited places that had very happy memories for me, made lots of friends, laughed a lot and just loved every moment. As your family and others on this forum say, 'Go for it'! When the holiday comes, 'enjoy'!

Hi I have just come back from the Lake Garda trip and the age range was 42 (me) to 87 and a variety of abilities.

On this trip we were mainly dropped off in the places being visited armed with meet up instructions and a map (if appropriate) and we would naturally end up in smaller groups and explore places in the smaller groups, that way you are usually in a smaller group of like minded people eg the walkers, the sight seers, the shoppers and go at your pace.

The groups are mixed, but you are all there for the same thing to enjoy a holiday. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and you will find holiday buddies within the group and perhaps make some more long lasting friends?
