Hello

I have just booked to go to Thailand on the 31st October, my first Just You holiday.

I am very excited as have wanted to visit Thailand for a long time but also quite nervous.

Is anyone else going? It would be lovely to learn a few names beforehand.

Hi Hazel,

I'm Jenny and I'm going to Thailand on the 31st October. This will

be my 6th Just You holiday and the others have all been fabulous.

Everyone has been really friendly and each holiday so well organised - great fun.

I'm very excited too about Thailand - there is such a lot to see and do

and the itinerary looks brilliant.

Looking forward to meeting you on the 31st.

Jenny

Hello Hazel

I have booked to go on this trip.

It will be my 8th singles holiday and I have thoroughly enjoyed all of them. I am sure you will have a fantastic time. Most people are nervous before their first trip but there is no need to be. Everyone I have met on these trips has been very friendly and you will soon make plenty of new friends.

If you would like any advice about these holidays please ask

Hi Jenny and David

Thank you for replying. It is lovely to hear that you have both been on so many many trips. Hopefully this will be the first of many more for me.

I am currently reading some guidebooks to Thailand to find out a bit about all the wonderful places we are going to visit. I do like to do a bit a research before I go on a trip, it all adds to the excitement.

Hi Kerry

Lovely to hear from you.

I am coming from Hampshire, so not far from you, and will probably get the Coach to Heathrow.

Is there anything that you are particulary looking forward to in Thailand?

Hi Hazel, David and Kerry,

This is great - four of us in touch already.

I'm in the Midlands and usually make my way to the airport by train.

The whole itinerary looks so good, it's going to be amazing. For some reason

I'm really looking forward to the elephant ride, but that may change when I'm

standing by its side, quaking at the size of this huge beast!

I live in the West Midlands and will be driving to Heathrow on our departure date. On our return I am staying in a Premier inn for the night and driving home the next morning. I don’t like driving home after a long flight, especially 13Hrs.

I have been on an elephant once before, in India, and I don’t think it is too scary as long as there is a seat.

Hi Alan

Glad to hear you are coming to Thailand - looking forward to meeting you too.

Does anyone know how many of us are booked on the holiday at the

moment? I see that there are 4 places left but don't know what the full quota would be.

Hello to all previous posters! I am also coming on this trip, also doing my first 'flying solo' and also nervous but excited. So happy to find most are feeling like me and I'm sure from this that there will be much friendly activity as we will all be in the same boat. Let's start the party here!

Booked ages ago, but its now in sight and beginning to seem real! I can't actually believe I've gone and done this as I am a bit of a nervous flyer too, talk about going in at the deep end - mine'll be a large brandy at the airport lol!

Has anyone sorted jabs and mossie stuff yet?

Look forward to hearing back from anyone....

Hello Owleyes

It’s good to hear from another person going on this trip. There are quite a few of us on this forum now. I am sure that once you begin to meet the other people in the lounge your nerves will start to disappear, and if they do not at least your brandy will be free. We can usually only enter the lounge 3 hours before the flight but I will probably arrive at about 5pm and I will be looking out for JY luggage labels.

As far as jabs are concerned you need to contact your doctor’s surgery. As our trip is 7 weeks today I would contact them sooner rather than later. Luckily mine are still in date. You may find the following link useful. I normally find that the internet can be very confusing on holiday jabs so I normally follow what the practice nurse recommends.

http://www.fitfortravel.nhs.uk/destinations/asia- (east)/thailand.aspx

For mosquitoes I would recommend Deet (at least 50%), but I only use it when absolutely necessary. It is a strong chemical and will dissolve many plastics such as watch glasses (if Plastic), and spectacles (sun and prescription).

Hi All

Been to the doctors today and luckily all my jabs are up to date too

Where we are going mosquitos should not be a problem but like David says use mosquito repellent of 50% Deet and cover up arms

and legs early in the morning and in the evening

Trip is getting nearer !

See you all soon

Hi David

Thanks for the reply and info, especially re the brandy haha! I'm not really a wino honest! Got docs next week so should be immune to everything.

Nice to know someone will be playing lookout in the lounge for us, must have my label on show! Can't believe you have worked out the times already, I must be more organised. I will warn you now, I'm the original dizzy blonde! If I remember to turn up on the day it will be a miracle. Getting excited now....
