Hi to anyone who has been to these countries, can you tell me if you need any jabs? If there any other hints that you could pass on I would be grateful.

yep you will need Jabs... check out MASTA and fill out their travel questionnaire - they will tell you exactly what you need and give you an up to date briefing of the risks of the various places.

alternatively you can look on 'fit for travel'.

Call your local community nurse at your doctor's

They will give you the advice you need and also make sure that you get any jabs at the right time (leaving them too late is the same as not taking any at all), and it's all free

Thanks Skippy for your advice. I have now filled in a form at my doctors and have an appointment to see the nurse on Fiday. Hope I haven't left it too late as I go in 5 weeks time.

Hi Roveraud,

I'm pretty sure you havenh't left it too late as I believe most jabs start acting within 2 - 3 weeks.

hi

you should be ok but Hep A needs to be given 4wks before travel.. but its a water borne infection so as long as you follow the adage, if you cant cook or peel it, dont eat it! you should be ok.. did you know that water melon used to be considered to be a source of infection for Hep A?

and yes.. I give travel advise for a living! MASTA and fit for travel are worth looking at because you get all sorts of other advice about the country.. including Foreign office advise.

have a fab time..

Hep A and Typhoid only need to be given 2 weeks before travel. Some immunisations need to be given over a period of weeks (i'e HepB and Rabies) And not all immunisations are free

Please see the nurse at your practice in plenty of time
