OK Jab's now I did have a few, but not Rabies or meningitis ..I had Diptheria, tetanus, polio,,didnt have to pay for them Did have to pay for Yellow Fever think £50.00ish you get a proper certificate booklet with that, that has to be shown. Maleria tabs were malerone which was on a script from doc's but cheaper to get online..

Maybe others that have been more recent can clarify, but can I say its a holiday that costs a fair amount and really this is extra money for the jabs etc but well worth it.

Like you the mozzys love me, and I was biten alive but took anti histamine tabs I did spray from head to to and slept under the nets but they always found my flesh..

I did this trip last September, I had 2 injectins before I left, they were free, they were for rabies, hepatitis, tetanus, typhoid and a few others, It was suggested that I have yellow fever, but where you would be going is a low risk area, so the choice is yours, I had a private prescription for maleria tables (its the only way you can get them), there was no mention of the meningococcal meningitis injection, so where your GP has come up with £250 is surprising, I paid in total around £50 (prescription & tablets).

While there others got bitten my mossies, I was luck I didn't, I bought some deet spary which kept them away.

but as long as your on those and keep well covered up with spray youll be fine.

I was on the same trip as Chloe and it was a fantastic holiday,thanks to Barbara our guide and her team.Regards the jabs, all i needed was yellow fever and maleria tablets,Tesco were the cheapest about £45.00 for twenty tablets.Dont be nervous,the sight of the animals is a sight to behold.DAVID.

It does depend on your doctors as to whether they advise on Rabies jab I think, which is expensive. I had it just in case but you can then just have boosters going forward. You do need the yellow fever one which lasts 10 years due to the area and I also had typhoid/diptheria & tetanus which was all in one jab. I also had Hep A and was already covered on Hep B. They were free though so in theory just need the Yellow Fever to pay for. Noone else on my trip ad had the rabies one so think that is up to you! The malaria tablet price can vary, the cheapest was travelpherm online site when I went, approx £45.

I took Kenyan Shillings and sterling I did NOT take US Dollars.. There are cash machines around I do not use these when I am away, but I do take a credit card. Don't forget to let your bank or credit card know your going away. To be honest I did not spend a vast amount of money. When you go to the factory outlet (Wood Carvings) etc they like sterling just make sure you don't get ripped off.

Plugs same as UK and there are mossie nets in the rooms at the Lodge.

Have a look on this web site re Plugs etc, I always travel with a universal plug adapter so I am covered for anything!

There are nets in both the safari lodge and the other hotel, they do spray the rooms late afternoon.

Are you doing the add on I did and really enjoyed the time lazing around, there is a beauty salon on site in 2nd hotel and it is well worth having a couple of treatments, you do need to book for these, they are MUCH cheaper than England, I had a Indian head massge and had a manicure really was a nice treat.

Hi, I am thinking of booking the Kenya trip, which sounds amazing, but my GP has given me a load of information about vaccinations and how many diseases travellers can get, it has made me a little nervous well a lot nervous actually!!). There are so many vaccinations they recommend, but the most worrying thing for me is the yellow fever, meningococcal meningitis, rabies and malaria. I tend to get bitten a lot by mozzies when I am abroad. Can anyone put my mind at ease. Does everyone have the meningitis, yellow fever and rabies jabs, as they amount to approximately £250,00. Hi, I have just come back from Kenya and yes you do need to have

the jabs. I was ill when I was coming back but not from any of the diseases that you mention. Its better to be on the save side as its great seeing all the animals in the wild. I would add that the second part of the holiday, I and a few of the others, thought the second half should have been shorter and the safari longer but its definately worth going though.

I was a bit ill for a couple of days but I think it was the malaria tablets as seemed to be the side effects when read the leaflet. T+I think it was that and a combination of the heat etc. Shouldn't be put off though as can happen on any hot holiday!

It was fab even with being ill. Noone else was, it was just me 😞
