Would love some feedback on the Discovery Weekends. Are they a good ice-breaker or would you suggest that I just take the plunge and book a holiday instead?

Any feedback would be appreciated, thank you.

I've not been on any discovery weekends,I've just taken the plunge and booked my first JY trip in July for the Gems of Andalucia river cruise. Now it's booked I can't wait. Reading some of the other people's comments on here they all seem to have a good time. Good luck, just pick somewhere you want to go, what have you got to loose.

Welcome to you, I have NOT done a weekend break my first of eight JY tours was to the USA. I do know that the weekend breaks are popular so I hope you get feed back from someone.

My personal opinion would be if there is a tour you really like the look of book it and put the weekend money towards that. you of course have to make your own mind up, but I wish you well.

Hello Tomzdad, I went on a discovery weekend about 2 weeks ago, I found it a great ice breaker. You are made to feel very welcome and everyones in the same boat. it was good to meet other people an have a laugh. We moved to different tables after every course (if you happened to pick out a different table number than the one you were sat at), which meant you got to meet and talk to someone new. I found it helped me to decide if I could go on holiday on my own and came home and booked to go walking in Germany and I am really looking forward to it. I say do it.

So glad to read these threads. I am thinking of going on a Discovery Weekend to see how I get on. Am a 100% and active late-teenager - although some people call me a silver surfer!! Yes, you've guessed - over the hill in the age number but definitely up for whatever life has to offer. Have been a widow for just over two years and am SO fed up doing things on my own. Will I be too old for this do you think? Go on, be honest!!:s

I have not been on a weekend I just booked a holiday, it seems to me you meet people on a weekend

and you meet people on holiday so just go on holiday, I will be on my third JY holiday in May on a Cairo and

Nile cruise. What ever you choose to do I'm sure you will have a great time.

Dave.

Welcome to you, I am not sure what age you have to be a silver surfer these days. I have been on 8 jy tours for your information I am 53 and have plenty of silver on my head these day's...I think the oldest I have met was young 80's youngest mid 20's....and all the ages inbetween....I would say the lesson I have learnt is age is a number, I have spent time with older people who are very young in their out look on life so I am sure you will fit in great. Also some of them have been fitter than I am they can walk rings around me at times... SO go for it if there is a holiday you like the look of give it a go. I am sure you will have a good time with like minded people. If there is anything I can help you with just ask.. there are a couple of videos on here, I am Cindy (Nixon) and there is one from another lovely lady ...the lovely lesley... Have a look at them and see what you think.
