Hi

Oh boy have you picked a crackin holiday!!

I went last March & had a great time. It's fast-paced but oh so much fun. I had always wanted to go & I was not disappointed. It was cold in March but that did not spoil it for me - if you are going in May the weather will be warmer.

You may not hear from anyone else on your trip just yet as some people wait till nearer the time. Also, not everyone used the Community forums so don't let that put you off but they are out there & you will meet them eventually.

Have a great holiday - I know you will. Enjoy!

Be happy,

Best wishes,

Lesley

PS: if you want any tips on things like currency, electrical adaptors etc. there is always one of us who can answer you queries as well as Olly.

I am doing the China trip in May. I did my first escorted trip with JY to Vietnam last October. It was truly amazing and I am really looking forward to the China trip. I am also doing the cruise add on....can't wait!!

I have never done a holiday alone, so this will be a first. Do so want to go to China but it will be in September. Anybody else going then and what can anyone tell me about, what to take, what not to take, what the hotels are like and the electricity supply i.e. sockets. etc. etc.

Sorry, rather a lot to ask but I am more than nervous.

Hi,

I'm going to China on 19th September and really looking forward to it. It will be my 8th trip with JY so I am quite a seasoned traveller with them. Nothing to be nervous about - from the minute you get to the airport you will see other people with the JY luggage label so you will all know eachother by the time you board. Many people have done this trip and are offering advice all the time - and you can always ask Olly.

I think the weather will be warm then - they reckon it's the best time to go - not too hot - that's why I booked early to make sure I got a place.

Might see you!!

Regards, Pat

Well, as I said in an earlier post, I have booked but made it 22nd August as this fits in with family commitments.

Very, very nervous but also excited.

Flying from Manchester so is anybody else on the same trip?

Hi Feeona.

Going to China 23rd May. Is this your date?. Also not been on this type of holiday before. Couple of points I've been told, have a good tread on your shoes because if it rains (hope not) on the Great Wall, it can get very slippery & to take a pashmina as some temples need you to cover up. Am hoping for info about money, whether its best to use a credit card or cash, any help from anyone with this?

I have been on 3 Just You holidays but thought I would try the Wonder of China holiday this year. Have not decided when yet - it would be interesting to know when is the best time i.e. weather?

I am on that trip as well-i am just trying to get everything together--when you say cover up do you mean a scarf over your head and your arms covered-the advice i have heard is take anywherefrom 50-100 in chinese yuan and the rest in 20 pound notes which are in good condition and have no marks on them--general figuire seems to be about 300 pounda plus depending on how much you want to spend--and credit cards can be used at but let your card company know.Cash cards can be used but only at one particular bank --but the hotels give a good rate for uk notes--

I am just beginning to get both excited and nervous

Hi Have done this trip and you will have a fantastic time, very busy with lots of walking, so make sure you have comfortable footwear. You will want to take lots of pictures so make sure you take a charger for your camera.Went in July and some days it was very hot, lots of interesting food to eat and all the hotels were good, some strange things served up for breakfast, but delicious omlettes always available, ENJOY!

Hi

I went last year, you are in for the trip of a lifetime. But as are guide told us we are the oddities in China, so many people wanted to have their photos taken with us that I wonder how many photo albums I have ruined.

I have photos all over the place that I took while I was there, the sights are amazing.

I took a UV umbrella on the advice of my daughter just to keep her happy, it was invaluable as it covered a lot more than a hat does when standing out in the sun.

I know you will have a great time.

Hi Carol, where did you buy the umbrella? You didn't mention when you went, I'm going in September I believe it shouldn't be too hot, if the brolly is compact I may take one anyway.
