Hi,

I have just come back from china it was brilliant. It is going to be very cold, when we went to Chengda the temperature was 2 degrees during day and -8 at night and that was beginning of winter it can go down to -20. So plenty of warm clothes and footwear. I would also recommend taking some cold remedies with you a few of us came down with bad colds. Take plenty of throat lozenges the atmosphere seems to dry the throat out and take lip salve. Take tea, coffee and creamer if you like a drink in your room as they were not always in the room and in one hotel you had to pay for them if you used them. I will warn you the morning calls are 6.30am, earliest 5.30am just in Beijing as the traffic is so bad it takes a long time to get through it but it is worth it.

Going to China was my first trip with just you and i was very nervous but i meet some lovely people and had a great time. Hope you will too. If you would like to know anything else just ask.

I'm booked! REALLLY excited! Not looking forward to the 10 hour flight though, the longest I've ever done before is four hours.

What's the best way to take our money? How much cash and what form to take the rest of it in, for instance should I put it on one of those plastic travel money cards?

Also do we need injections? I only managed to get booked today so I think I'll call the doctor tomorrow.

Looking forward to meeting you all.

Hi there, yes you will need some jabs have a work with your Doctor's practice nurse she will know. I am feeling reassured now that you have only just booked. I booked last month but still haven't got my visa application form and thought it was cutting it a bit fine! Should be here today or tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting everyone - Hazel

I haven't decided how to take money yet. I saw on this forum that it was wise to take about £100 in chinese cash (whatever that is??) but to make sure they are clean tidy notes, apparently they don't accept torn or dirty ones! I may top of my debit card before I go and take a credit card also. H

Hi

I exchanged £50 of English money into Yuan at home and the rest i took as English £20 notes in pristine condition. You are able to change these in the hotels i also took my credit card which i did use, don't forget to inform your banks you may use it in China. Don't drink the water in China you are given two bottles of water in your hotel room each day and you can also buy water from the coach driver at a good price. Keep a bottle of water with you because there is rarely a chance to buy drinks no cafe's on every corner like here.

Have fun.

Hi Hazel, yes, I will feel a lot happier once I know the visa is sorted out. Still waiting for the pack, but then I'll send it back straight away by special delivery and then I guess sit & wait. Urggghhh!
