Hi Darren
Did this tour in April this year. Still hav'nt made up my mind whether I enjoyed it or not. It was my 4th Just You tour and I would put this towards the bottom of my list of how much I enjoyed it.
It was very rushed. A lot to do and see with not much time in between.
The guided tour of Dallas was o.k. Nothing to rave about but you had a lot of facts and figures thrown at you, which took a bit of taking in. Stockyards were interesting, Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame boring. Rodeo show was to say the least interesting. Worth going to to say you've been and to see 'strange goings on'. Austin probably wasn't worth stopping at..Not enough time!! San Antonio was very good. River cruise was excellent. You probably won't be there for the River Parade but again its great. Alamo was so-so. Would have been good if we could have understood the fellow who recited the story. You'll get more from the film. I really enjoyed El Mercado. Wonderful market. In fact I loved it so much I forgo the visit to La Villita. Silver Spur Ranch again was not what I expected. Horse trek was o. k. rest was, to me, not worth the money we'd paid.
Nasa was interesting, but seemed to close at 3 in the afternoon.
New Orleans was good. Done this before so knew what to expect. The tour is so so. If you've never been to New Orleans cemetry then its worth doing, but nothing else was new.
Swamp tour was very good. We had a very good guide and it was unusual and interesting.
All in all the tour was slightly above average to my way of thinking. The things that went wrong were not of Just You's making and the Tour Manager we had worked his socks off sorting things out. Could have done with a more comfortable coach. One with suspension would have been nice.
Overall my thoughts are, I've done it and enjoyed the break but its not a place I would want to go back to.
