Hi,

I've been doing a bit of phoning around for a Travel Money card as advised in the Just You holiday tips handbook.

If anyone's stuck on how or where to get one from - I've found Thomas Cook may be best. I've not got one yet as it's too early to get one for September, but the majority of the branches hold them in branch (but telephone to check) and do everything for you in 1 go.

With the Post Office - only a few branches issue them - you load approx £50 of US $s initially, go home and register the card online. Go back to the branch or call a customer service number to top the card up.

Hi,

I've got one of these cards for September as well. I must it seems a good idea. So easy to load money on it saves carrying dollars.

Hi

I have ordered one from the Post office on line for my Golden West trip in July, I will take Dollars as well but don't want to use my normal debit card if I can avoid it. It was easy enough to order and you can top up in any GB Post offices or over the phone.

Hi

I ordered my travel card online and got it in two days. You can also top up on line on a secure site.

Hope this helps

Thanks Lesley, I don't like putting card details online, I'm a bit wary. I'm very near Bluewater which has a big Thomas Cook branch. Many thabks for the advice though.

Hi Trish,

Thanks for the information on travel money cards.

I am also thinking of getting one for our trip to America.

Looking forward to meeting you in September.

Take care.

Hi Liz,

I've decided to get mine from Thomas Cook, I will take dollars too , like you I don't want to take my uk bank debit card.

It's all done for you so I'll put on the full amount of dollars in one go, saves mucking about.
