Hi Gary- a great idea to celebrate your birthday on holiday. I'm sure that we will have a good time and meet lots of new people. I usually travel by myself, which is ok, but I booked with JY as I'm sure it will be good to be in the company of fellow travellers...look forward to meeting on holiday.

Hello Gary,

Two of our recent trip to Magnificent Lake Garda celebrated their birthdays in Italy. We were at the opera in Verona for one lady- she said that she had done this trip purposely so that she could celebrate it. We were given candles for the beginning- told her that all the candles were instead of a cake! Next day we were in the Gardens of Sigurta and celebrated the second girl with ice cream in a small village over looking the river.

Hope you have a great birthday- quite a milestone. Celebrated my 50th with some of my family in New York. Empire State building with spectacular views. The next day it poured with rain-couldn't see the tops of the buildings. Enjoy Italy.

Jan.

hi Jan

i thought about a trip to the USA also but with this being my first solo trip i though i would take the safe option and do 8 days to Italy first I have been to Florida many times with Family and love America,if all goes well i am sure i will be there next year.

Hi Gary, I'm travelling from Newcastle too on 13th. I normally go on holiday on my own or with my family, but thought I'd try something dedicated to going solo. I'm more nervous about going with JY than when I've jetted off alone?? I was going to do West Coast of America but thought I'd try Europe first & see how it goes travelling with like-minded people. Looks like it should be a good week with a few 50th birthdays to celebrate too. See you at the airport. Julie

Funny i had the same thoughts as you, i looked at America but chose the safe option with Italy as it seemed a bit daunting for a first single trip. we have got a few birthdays to celebrate (i cant get the hang of this thread thing i dont know when i am sending a message or not) in saying that i will be celebrating over a few days to make the most of it.Watch out for me at the airport.i live in Sunderland what about you?

I realised after I'd sent the reply, it was your thread repeated! Well one birthday to celebrate is just as good! I live Chester-le-Street.
