I am tentatively planning to book a holiday to Egypt the first week in September 2009, but am being held back by anxiety about the weather: I don't take kindly to intense heat or humidity. I would be grateful to hear from anyone willing to enlighten me or share their experiences with me.

Sorry to worry you, but I went on the Nile cruise last September (wonderful holiday) and the only day the temperature was not in the 90's was when it went up to 104 degrees! Humidity was VERY high. This was, we were told, exceptional but 'normal' is still hot in September! A tip; obtain local currency at the Egyptian airport. There are plenty of banking booths and is very convenient.

I think I might have been a bit alarmist. It will be very hot, but I drank vast quantities of bottled water, wore a large sun hat and was very careful what I ate (only food that has been cooked or can be peeled) and I had very little trouble. Egypt is fabulous!

Hi

I could be the tour manager on the tour. Is it the Nile cruise from Luxor. I can tell you it will be hot but it is not a humid hot at all. It is a very dry heat. we try to avoid the heat of the day when doing the tours and do our guiding in the shady places. It is a fantastic tour Hope to see you there

Hi there, im looking at going to egypt in april next year and the weather seems a bit cooler then! I've read that it's about 28deg in the day and 14deg in the evening.

Maybe you could re-think the month you want to go so that you can concentrate on the experience of egypt rather than the heat!
