Hi

I have just booked Bournemouth Discovery weekend on the 1st October. I thought about it for a long time before deciding and missed out on one that was fully booked. I am nervous about a holiday on my own but everyone seems to have a good time. So go for it. If you go for a discovery weekend its only 2 nights which isn't that long if you're not enjoying it but hopefully they are as good as they sound.

I took the plunge and went on holiday on my own for the first time at 68 I went on the american parks and canyons tour last year and it was spectacular but maybe rather hectic. I had a wonderful time and everyone was so friendly and we were very well looked after, maybe for the first time europe may be more suitable for you, I hope you decide to go and I would be interested to know how you get on good luck Beatie.

We all know how your feeling as we have all felt like that at some time before booking or before the trip. All I can say is I have been on 6 JY trips and have 2 more booked, I have not had a bad one yet, some are better than others but not any ones fault just how I have felt, but over all they are great value for money and as a lady I have always felt very safe. Through going away I have made a couple of holiday friends so sometimes I go on a tour with them but I still do travel on my own.

As for what holiday well choose one you really like the look of, then you know you will be with like minded people you all have that holiday in common. I have been on large tour groups and small tour groups but everybody very quickly helps and looks out for one another. I hope that you give it a go,and have a great time.

Hi John,

just read your post and the replies which all seemed very helpful. I travel quite abit on my own and the best advice I had was to go with an open mind. Expect everything to be new and interesting and to be pleased by it and you wont be disappointed. Im off to my second JY trip - 2 aug Duoro cruise, and I am now counting the weeks. GOOD LUCK AND ENJOY WHERE EVER YOU DECIDE TO GO. GWEN temporary 'friendettes'or good long term friends or somewhere in between. The experiences you will have of where ever you go will give you wonderful memories long after you get home.
