I went to Aushwitz on the Poland and Tatra Mountains tour JY did a few years back that was my 2nd tour with them. I choose that tour just for the day at the concentraction camps, ( I know how to have fun) but it was a great tour meet some lovely people on that one who I have travelled with JY since with. I just had to go and pay my respects to that awfull place. I thought and still tgink it needs to be there as a reminder that IT DID HAPPEN and me must never forget it happened.
Have fun in Prague, and yes I have less than 5 weeks to go for New Zealand.!!!!!

Hi Olly,
Thank you. I have just read the blog, so I am looking forward to seeing Prague even more now. I know Jana will not be our tour manager but I am sure that Karolina will do us proud and I look forward to meeting her.
I think we will cram a lot into the time we are there. And of course there is always the shopping!
So I look forward to meeting my fellow Just You travellers - bring it on!
Be happy,
Best wishes,
Lesley
LesleyI have done Prague as a city break do your own thing with Hubby a few years back we went early January, it WAS COLD but fantastic dry clear days with deep blue sky. Loved the town square and the buildings from a photography veiwpoint. Nice walk along the famouse bridge and up to the castle. I managed to book a historic walk to do with the persecuted Jews, went to a couple of synagues and jewish graveyard. (I love the jewish history and anything about the holocaust). Was fascinating. You will have a great time in Praque the town market is good lots to eat and taste!!! Have fun enjoy seeing the clock tower...exciting!!!!!!!!! Cindy

Hi Cindy,
I have been to Prague before, but only for a couple of days as part of a tour of Eastern Europe, and also it was in the Summer so the weather will be vastly different. I liked what I saw so hence my decision to go there this Xmas. I look forward to seeing some more of Prague this time. I had a feeling that there is a set of shoes on the quayside at Prague - as a memorial - but I did so many places at that time that I may be confused. I can check it out this time.
If you are interested in the Holocaust, I expect you have been to Auschwitz - I did this on the same tour when we were in Krakow. I will go back to Poland again for the same reason. It is a lovely country. I loved Warsaw and Krakow so look forward to seeing both some more. These type of tours are snapshots of places so there are always some places you want to return to, to see more.
I know it is not too long before you are off again. So I hope you too have a good trip.
I had a great time when I was in Prague and you can read all about the trip in the link Olly posted above. While the native currency of Czech Republic is koruna or crown the majority of places also accept euros.
I am kind of envious. I would love to go and see the city in the winter and covered in snow. Its a beautiful city and I am sure you will have a fantastic time :)
Steve
I have received my travel documents for this holiday, today.
However, it states that the optional excursion to Nelahozves can only be paid for locally (not prior to departure) but in Euros, although the currency for the Czech Republic is Koruna.
Is there a reason for this? If the excursion can only be paid for in Euros it will mean we will have to take Euros as well as Czech Koruna and of course Sterling.
Could you clarify this for me please. Thanks.
