India's Tiger Trail
Post: #11
Thanks Vickie - perhaps another morning in the jungle then!

I booked the Classic Touring Tiger Trail holiday as it included a little classic sightseeing as well as 5 included safaris. Therefore I chose the stand alone Tiger Trail anticipating a tour in Dehli on arrival on Day 2 - this has now been moved to day three where a tour of Delhi and the step well has been shoehorned into an already full programme of travel and visits on Day 3. Now the anticipated tour of Mumbai at the end of the holiday has all but disappeared due to the late flight times.

I am concerned that the tour I have chosen has been compromised by becoming part of a combined tour. I am still hopeful that the Delhi/step well tour will be rearranged back to the original Day 2 of the tour for those arriving on the Tiger Trail. Having flown all that way I don't want to spend a day "at leisure" or indeed have to make costly private arrangements which may anticipate the tour on Day 3.

So - returning to the end of the holiday - anyone fancy a couple of extra days in Mumbai? It is a shame that this is not offered as an add on - but of course that would not work with the combined tour!!!!

Having thoroughly enjoyed several trips to the Indian sub continent I am looking forward to having an interesting, enjoyable and full on experience.

Hi Peter,

The accommodation on the website will be showing for the January departure date, and once that tour has departed it will update to show the accommodation for February, which is slightly different - but that is why it's different to what's on your paperwork.

Many thanks,
Vickie

Hi Kedi and Peter

I have just had my new paperwork regarding payment. Guess what my flight details for 9th March have now been changed.  It now states 9th March depart Nagpur at 20.40 and arrive Mumbai 22.20.

Vickie, is there any chance please that you can clarify the time and why we aren't going on an earlier flight so that we can at least see a bit of Mumbai?. It's a bit pointless really being given interesting info. on Mumbai if we don't get any chance to see it at all.
Hopefully the tour will be tweaked after the return of the first group who have gone.
It is also Holi on 9th and 10th March, a big festival, so no doubt everywhere will be even busier than normal. I wonder if there will be any chance to watch celebrations. Holi is also called the Festival of Colours and one of the most iconic activities is the throwing of coloured water and powder in the streets of India's cities.
If  the local agents could organize an earlier flight to Mumbai we would perhaps have more chance to get involved.
Vickie, please could you ask the Product Manager about it? When we went on the first Darjeeling to Delhi tour we  travelled during the Navrati Festival. Yes, it was great to see it but getting stuck in the Festival traffic plus not having the required permits to get into Sikkim, which Barbara our TM knew nothing about, did have dire consequences-didn't reach our hotel until 01.30.

Has a TM been allocated yet and if so who is it,please? Sorry so many questions Vickie.

Peter, I hope that you enjoy your first visit to India, it will certainly be a spectacle! I am really looking forward to going again and I am sure that any hiccups will be sorted out.  If you don't already know Michael Portillo is back at Destinations on the Sunday.
Look forward to seeing you, Kedi and Angell in February.

Kind Regards
Di

Hi all

Looking forward to meeting up with all those booked on this trip (27 February). Hopefully everything will be answered and sorted out before we set out.

Think I'll have a go at reading some Rudyard Kipling as an antidote to too many Christmas movies ?

Two months today! I trust my fellow travellers had a good time at Christmas. I had trifle for breakfast today - like you do! Best wishes for the new year celebrations and then the countdown really begins........

Hi Kedi. Something went wrong with my previous post. I shall be flying out a week earlier than you for the Invitation to India trip and then joining you on the tiger trail. I shall soon have to see if any extra medication is required and also sort out the visa. Looking forward to meeting you in Delhi.

Julia. I am on the India Iconic and the Wild departing Heathrow on February 21st. I assume there will be separate Tour Managers for the Invitation to India part to the Tiger Trail part. Have any TMs been appointed yet?

Hello Diane and Peter

Diane,  I haven't had trifle for breakfast-just chocolate which is just as healthy (not). I did go a walk though and went on my exercise bike earlier today. Need to be able to run from these tigers if they get to close.
And Peter I will not be jumping into swimming pools in  India for a certain person to say that it is raining like it rained in Apulia.

Hello Julia (Matt or Jamie)
Please can you advise whether we have TM allocated yet? if so is he or she travelling with us from LHR or doing the combined tour Invitation to India and Tiger Trail which departs on 21st Feb? If we haven't got one perhaps a member of the Office Staff can be TM (am thinking of Julia)!

Kind Regards
Di

Hi Peter & Di

If I've read the system correctly (and it's been awhile) I believe you will have the same Tour Manager throughout this trip, and it looks like the lovely Kim Clark has been provisioanlly allocated this tour.

Di with the above, it means that Kim will be travelling out with the group that departs on the 21st February and will meet you in India.

Warmest regards,

Julia

Julia
